As I believe I stated in your 4th gen thread... when you had a budget of 100$ start by reading the stickies.
There is all the information you need in there.
just about everything is better than the blose. Are you gonna run an amp in your system or deck power? Is that revised budget for speakers alone?

rainbow speakers are gonna cost you at least 200. Then you should run an amp cause there is no power coming off the stock deck. you can do it with out but why? Bose amplifies their signal at the speaker. Then... might as well get a new deck while your at it cause you have no ipod hookup or navi or anything cool. And then to get the most out of your new speakers you might want to consider sound deadening the doors.
It sure adds up in a hurry.
Or... you just bypass the bose amps at the factory speakers and run things like that. There is a write up here someplace.... I just too lazy to look for it.
hope that helps.
ninjaedit: I found a set of rainbow for 200. plus shipping of course. I personally would not buy from this seller though.... probably not an authorized vendor. meaning no rainbow warranty.

speaking of which... I need to call him an order my amp.
ok first,
upgrade the hu, then the rear speakers for eqaulity in all mids and highs, the fronts are last for they have a component system(one 6inch sub, and a tweeter in another spot)the to the big stuff subs, most of this is easy, i have done its in about 10 cars inclueding friends and xgf's
i wouldnt recommend going out an buy the top line stuff, who cares if its 200$. if it doesnt have sound quality(im guessing this does) but many cheaper speakers are good just watch for rms, peak power, desables(sp) your rms is the normal opperating power anywhere between 50watts and 100 is more then enough, peak is tricky, if you see one saying 500watt peak, but 40 rms, there lyeing about something
check out epinions.com for reviews, and onlinecarstereo.com for reviews and prices
now the one problem that is slowing me down that i cant figure out is do i need new wiring to bypass the stock amp? of leave the amp because with new speakers it will bypass itself after new speakers are added

for 250 spend 150 on speakers and 100 on an amp.
goto any online car stereo website and cheap out the deals for 150. don't buy local as your friend is going to do the install for you. and you need the most for your buck.
for instance i'd probably grab these(yes the are good for the $ i like em, i'v owned them, and so have many others):
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4630
and this amp:http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=6274 <--cheap reliable decent amount of power.
cheap and reliable products, fits in your budget and comes with free speaker wire. then just buy some welding wire from weldingsupply.com 4/8guage and a few contacts + fuse and you're set. it should all be around 270 shipped to your door and will sound 10x better than stock.
edit: do you have an aftermarket headunit?

im sorry i have had to bypass my old wagon stereo, mostly because ford sucks and cant make a stock stereo for there life(with the exception of the mach audio, and the newer pioneer systems they installed in factory) but the stock amp in the ford was only putting out 15-18watts a channel so it had to be bypassed, as for my jeep, it came stock with infinity and i wasnt big in audio when every car i had sounded good, with the exception of my ssei bonnieville, it was the first car i did anything too.
and amping every speaker is good and all but for day to day i would like to not increase my headaches, and messing with a 2nd amp or in my soon to be case a 3rd amp, its not worth it, i will take any speakers over 50rms rating as long as its not in an amp, mmk
if i really was going to sound comps i would just ask my cousin because of his accomplishments at sound comps.
so far though i am unimpressed with this .org every post i have someone tries to flame and i still do not get the answers to my questions, but thank you
no AM stereo is fine. just use a Line Output Converter. should be 10-20 bucks with some adjustable pots at the end of it.
i would suggest your next purchase be an AM head unit as the speakers will sound much better and personally i can't live without an aux in and or mp3 capability. A low level eclipse i recommend in this case maybe a: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4953 for 250 it's a good deal. nice headunit i even ran it for a while good sq great customer service and quality. i'v never had an eclipse fail on me in over 8 years. and that model has plenty of options to fiddle around with.
once you start you will not stop fwiw.
after the headunit you'll pick up some subs, which i highly recommend doing maybe even before the headunit. and subs are the most noticeable improvement over a stock stereo generally.
anyways good luck. and i'd hop on those CDTs. free speaker wire and shipping is a good deal. and they are nice speakers. i love the T25 tweeters.
changing cds FTL.
g'luck!

plz oh plz as stupid as it sounds u need to spend at least $40 on wiring. having good equipment and cheap wiring is totally pointless. make sure u have at least 4awg power and ground wire (in case u wanna upgrade your system) and at least 16 awg speaker wires. try ebay n search for amp wiring kit
