MRP-M1000 Q's

Hello, I have a '99 max with the bose system. I have an alpine mrp-m1000 amplifier which will be powering an alpine type-r 12" 1242D subwoofer. I also have a headunit and speakers but I will not be putting them in till the spring because of time. I just want to install the sub/amp right now. Will this amp need a converter?

no amp will need a converter with bose. Splice rca's into the rca outputs from the bose hu.

Can you provide a few good links about this? I've read some unclear info so that's why I started this thread. I read that the signal would be amplified and that I would need a converter but I guess that refers to taping into the signal after the speakers. From your post I understand that I will need to remove my bose radio, wire in the rca wires from my sub amp and all should be good. Which wires do I wire them into?

Which is why I said to do it from the HU not at the speaker.

Thanks. I'll go search for a DIY or wiring diagram.

I don't want to ruin my rca cables by cutting the ends off so what should I do to splice into the rca outputs on the HU?

Edit: I'm going to cut some insulation off and solder a wire on.

Are you running the alpine amp at 4Ω or 2Ω? What amp will you use on your highs?

If I use the amp at 4 I'd have to use the sub at 4 and that would defeat the purpose of the DVC. What made you think I was adding a amp for the interior speakers? For tapping into the wires behind the bose deck I am using two rca female jacks that I scavenged off a old synthesizer. I just want to make sure I got the polarity on the jacks correct; inside hole is positive and outside is negative?

That's awful lot of power going to the sub while the interior speakers are going to be running off the h/u. It seems to be something of an atypical setup, but it's doable.

I'll be installing my headunit and interior speakers, which can use their own amp, later on perhaps this summer. This is why I made this: I have the gain at about 75% and I have been playing the sub for about 4 hours now. My lights dim badly. Should I get a cap?

Some say get a cap, Some say get a 2nd battery, Some say get the big-3 upgrade, and still others say stop the silliness and get a more powerful Alt. Try investigating all options and then do what best fits your situation.

I was thinking a cap would be a good idea but then i thought what if I could do something else. I saw a pic on here of a small battery like a motorcylce battery that someone had wired up to their system so that just got me thinking. Since I have to "search" before anything gets done it will be a little while. I'm interested in everything except replacing the alt as of now.

My cars lights are dimming and flashing. I have one 12" type-r sub and one alpine m1000 amp. What should I do?

Start with making sure your power/ground wires are large enough for the wattage you are pushing. Then do the big 3.

Should I leave the existing wires when doing the "big 3"?
