Shady audio installer?

There is this installer in my area and I'm not sure whether i trust them or not. Today I went in just looking at some stuff to get, because I plan to change up my system from the stock BOSE this summer once I get some money.

I talked to them about replacing it, and they told me I could just get an adapter and install a new deck, and the next part is what I'm not so sure about, he said it would make the BOSE quality better having an aftermarket deck?

Then we talked about installing subs and and amp and he said we could tap into the back speakers, which I know is true and I've heard it here.

I'm just not so sure about the aftermarket deck improving bose quality? that kind of contradicts what I've read here, If i'm not mistaken.

Any input appreciated.

Er...why? Supposing he's talking about "tapping" the rear speakers' signal before the amp, isn't it just a low-voltage signal from the HU?

Yes, an aftermarket HU improves your Bose speakers because you have more flexability in tuning your sound with its built in EQ and yes you will need a PAC switch in order to connect the HU to the stock Bose amp. Tapping into the rear speakers is GHETTO. The PAC-OEM 2 will connect to your Bose HU and allow you to connect an aftermarket amp for subs.

Save some cash and do the install yourself. It's fun as hell and you learn a lot.

Please explain. My understanding is that if you want to connect an aftermarket HU to your Bose amp you need a PAC-OEM1 switch to remove the aftermarket HU amplified signal?

From the HU the signal is already unamplified and flat. A simple RCA lead from an aftermarket works fine without the cost of the 'adapters'.

Right, but what I'm refering to is that you cannot connect your aftermarket HU directly to the bose speakers. You need the PAC switch to use the Bose amp to power the Bose speakers. I was told a while back that connecting The HU harness directly to stock harness can eventualy damaged the Bose amp.

I did not say to connect the harness direct. What I said was connect the RCA preouts to either a Metra 70-7551 harness or make your own female ends into the OEM harness. Using an adaptor is converting high to low, what is the point of converting and RCA signal which is already low ? None.

I see what you are saying. My mistake. I was talking about something else.

Can someone explain this to me? Why is it ghetto to do this? What's the difference in getting the signal from the harness vs. getting it from the rear speakers.

JUST STOP USING THAT POS BOSE AMP BETTER OFF USING YOUR NEW HU FOR ALL THE SPEAKERS AND YES IT DOES MAKE THE STOCK BOSE SPEAKERS SOUND BETTER WITH THE NEW HU

Sure if you want to blow out the internal amp of the new HU. The speakers are 1 ohm sir.

First ... Turn off the caps lock button on the left of your keyboard.

Second .. Completely false. Your suggestion will definitely cause more harm than good. Please confirm things prior to openly posting false information and potentially damaging someone elses vehicle.

No. There is no difference provided it is prior to the amp. Whoever claimed it was 'ghetto' should rethink things and learn more prior to giving other advice.
