Installed new head unit

I've got a 03 maxima TE with Bose. I bought the wire harness for bose, the one that come with the rca jacks. I wired the aftermarket radio and everything and when now it doesn't get that loud.. Its a pioneer CD player. The volume would on 60 and it wouldn’t be that loud.. Is that the way its suppose to be?

This is why there are the warmings in the stickies about wiring your radio this way if you have low voltage preouts. Anything below around 4 volts on your preouts, and you will have this problem.

Other option is the PAC or Scosche adapter...or replacing your speakers.

Yes its not going to get as loud as the stock bose headunit. What is the preout voltage of your headunit?? Most newer models are 4volts that would make it a little closer to stock output but you will eventually have to remove all the bose speakers and sub if you want any real quality out of your system. For the moment you can put your headunit on the highest setting(not the volume but the source amplifier) that might help a bit

My friends had the same problem in their maxima and infiniti. With the bose system, correct me if i'm wrong, but the speakers only give out about 1-2 ohms when other non bose speakers give out 8 ohms. So what i did for them was intall aftermarket speakers, and problem solved....Before you install one though, try connect an aftermarket speaker straight to the head unit and turn up the volume. It should be louder than it is with the bose speakers.......

I put a pioneer deck in my 4th gen. No special adaptor, no swapped out speakers. It's WAY louder and a better quality sound than the stock head unit. My deck had AV's but that only runs to my amp and subs.
