No I don't have a spare. I saw no point in keeping it since I have 19"s. It's to expensive to buy an extra 19" like I have just for a spare...so i used the space. In the center console is the Zapco DA conveter and slx 4 crossover, molded in. We made the kicks. Whats the $ for.

I love the setup I want something like that. If I could only look over the weight. I have a civic and I need all the advantages I can get. But hey it is the price you pay to be cool. So I will be building a system starting in feb. I need a couple of months to decide on a design. Thanks.

Resin and glass or other fabrics car reduce the mass of the enclosure by at least half. Mine, with subs will still come in over 100 lbs. The subs are about 25lb each. That's why I have a v6 instead of a 4 banger. 100 lbs is less than 1/30 the weight of the empty car.

The trunk with the stereo in is not that heavy. We guestimat that with everything in there it only weighs about 50-60 lbs more than factroy. This is becuase the spare was removed. Also the bottom main frame is regular mdf where it needs to be rigid but the rest is ultra lite weight mdf and fiberglass. Thats why it's not real heavy.

Thanks. Will fiberglass do as well as mdf for db drag? If so then most of my concerns are settled. I am trying to do this right the first time and post pics when I am through. With a little more knowledge I will be starting my project in feb. Thanks everyone.

Depends...If you want the enclosure in say the tire well then yes fiberglass will work. It comes down to how big you wanna get with it. Typically you want everything extremly rigid. it's gonna come down to your setup (subs, power, sub potieition, placement, design, etc.) For the most part mdf is what you want to stick with 1" thick if your doing it big. Tell me what all your gonna run and your thoughts on how you want to set everything up and whta numbers (db) your looking to get and what class you want to be in.

Check out usac's homepage and iasca' idbl page for details on classes.

I would like to run 3 fosgate 10" hx2"s with a fosgate power 1000db amp its a mono amp. and enough power for the highs a punch 800.4. and for the highs a pair of mb qurat components 6 1/2's. Or fosgate fanatic x's. I have a kenwood head unit 516s it is alright I might upgrade when every thing else is done. Thanks.

and what type of setup (install) are you thinking of doing...and how loud are you hoping to achieve. Your mids and highs will not affect your class for comp or the sub enclosure or your dealing with fiberglass rigidty.

Let's see, roughly 1024 times the threshhold of pain. I don't think that will fit in your spare tire well. But I don't personally own an apl meter. If you really want to hit an SPL that high you should start out by seriously reinforcing the entire vehicle.

You might be able to get 3 cft out of the tire well. I doubt with the subs your gonna need to get 155db that that will be enough cft.

And like Jmax said. You need massive redoing of the car to solidifi everything.

You need serious subs and seiours amps and alot of renforcement.

Your talking probley 5-6g's just for it to be loud for less than a sec. Also you said you can't deal with the weight. Well for that kind of loudness it's gonna be heavy.

That is true about the weight. I had a vt box 10" and it hit 138.8 db. with a mtx 4202 amp. The owner of the shop said that the 2 10 vt box on a rockford 1000db hit 156.4 db. The boxes are heavy and loud and ugly. I want as much db just to look better. Thanks.

Unless the box and SPL meter were crammed in a tiny sealed steal box the owner was on crack.

My one 10 did pretty good 138.8 db so maybe. Probally not but maybe. I am thinking about selling the civic and getting an altima. A car that is worth putting some money into. Plus I can put 3 Power hx2's and a power 1500 b. It has the VQ power. Thanks.
