Search is *not* my friend...noobish question inside.

Alright the short of it - installing a sub into my 5th gen, I created a plywood floor to go underneath the trunk carpet for support and I am wondering if it is safe to drive screws into the wood...what I want to avoid is drilling into the gas tank.
TYIA.

Just make sure the screws aren't too long.

I am doing this with my false floor - it makes it easy because you can screw anything down pretty much anywhere you want to all across the floor...

Why not just make the floor a nice tight fit?

Isnt the fuel tank more under the back seat than the trunk? I'd be more concerned with drilling a screw into my spare tire.

thanks I'll make sure of it, hopefully I will not smell gas when I drill

because the standard size for fiberboard is 2' x 4' and the depth of the trunk to where I measured for a tight fit is like 40"
I dunno, its complicated lol

drilling into the spare tire isnt much of a concern, hope you're right about the loc of the tank...now that you mention it I remember the write up for the fuel filter replacement and taking the rear seat out.

Nice looking solution to the saggy trunk epidemic man.. if I saw that before I began this project I probably woulda gotten one. I'm assuming its fine to drill into that area, thanks

gas tank is in front of the rear axle. shouldn't be an issue, but it would be dumb to drill without looking underneath for yourself regardless.

You're fine. I've drilled into the trunk no problem.
