Yes. But if the would be thief is a typical shopper they will see you turn it off and will know to look for the switch or just bypass.

That is why he has tinted windows

At work we got a new Pathfinder a few months ago where to turn it on, you had to move the mirror adjustment switch to the side, hold some other button and press on the brake at the same time!

BTW, I think thieves know all of the tricks.. I suggest you just take the battery out and take it with you, lol

When a person "hides" the keys somewhere in the car and then their car is stolen it is because the thief is a street smart person and saw where the keys were hidden or knew the places that everyone hides them. There is nothing you are saying that the thieves haven't thought of themselves. I mean, I thought of all these things and I'm not even a thief. When you park the car and get out, most of the time they are watching you. If you spend extra time in the car before you get out they are wondering "why?" If you spend time in there you are probably hiding something or enabling an alarm or imobalizing mecahnism. In the neighborhoods they live in they have to take all these same precautions to keep your car from being stolen from them. So they already know his stuff.

At least in my 4th Gen, the fuel pump fuse is easily accessible...

put some tape on the top to make a pull tab...before you exit the car...pop that fuse out and the car is immobile...just be sure you don't lose the fuse and remember to tell your wife about it...ha ha!

the stuff that's being mentioned here is completely different. it's as simple as having the mirror selector in a certain position, or put our 5 spd tranny in a certain gear, or the temp control tab in a certain spot. stuff a theif will only recognize if they watch you day in and day out. you don't mess with this stuff while getting out of your car, and it's a 1/2 second job to stick the tranny in gear or adjust the A/C controls before starting the car. you get my drift.

Yes, there are a zillion guys out there that also know these tricks, but YOU are the only one that knows your A/C control has to be set on "3", with the temp selector 1/3 of the way to cold and the tranny in 2nd gear to start the car.
there's just too many combinations that someone would have to try to get around something like that IF it's done right.
