sub replacement for bose 8"

i recently installed a Rockford P2 8", and i am running it on the recommended 200watt range with a mono alpine m450.

the back deck rattle is something i can fix, but the speaker doesnt want to play much at all. it bottoms out with distortion if driven anyway near a good level. i think its due to the free air setup (no box). i think this sub wants to be in a box

i want to know if anyone has had success running a replacement sub in the bose rear deck position? or is it pointless. Rockford makes subs for extremely small enclosures so that may be my route if i cant get this to work. was tryn not to lose any trunk space but if the 8" isnt gonna do it, i will have to change directions. thanks to all

per the rockford website, the P2 is supposed to be used in an enclosure....aka, not a free air sub.

I personally have not run a replacement sub in the rear deck, but you will have much better luck if you use a free air sub.

thanks, i was just wondering if anyone had tried it, and if so what success they had. if pretty sure i will be getting the 10" shallow rockford in a skinny box. that p2 has some potential. maybe i can get a custom box made that will be about the same size as the shallow

I have not tried it but my back deck rattles from my subs in the trunk. I think its just a week deck so u might have to reinforce it. If you find a speaker that will work im sure many people would want to know because that is a good spot for a sub instead of losing the whole trunk.

i'm actually still using the bose sub along with my 12"...tried using a kicker compvr in place of the bose and it was miserable (needed a box)...since i have a 4channel amp for the speakers with a pre-out for another amp, i wired the rca output to the speaker input for the bose sub/amp. Doesn't hit so hard, but its not designed to. It just adds a nice middle area (being that my speakers don't put out bass, and the sub puts out only bass). I'm probably gonna end up keeping it, anything else in the deck and it just rattles too much..and i'm too lazy to fix it

thanks alot man, i am thinking of getting a Rockford 10" shallow design, maybe 2? its as thin as a briefcase in the box! not much space will be lost. as soon as i finish wiring the components i will let you guys no. i think im gonna remove the sub in the back deck, dyno mat it, and leave it open, let it act like a port
