Lots of questions

Ok you guys hand with me on this...I have never done a system with 2 amps before but i am about to. This is my plan i am going to have 2 600 watt kenwood amps for my audiobahn 12"s. I was planning on geting a cap. maybe 2, because my batt. sucks. Ok first can I bridge both amps to both speakers? Also what kind of wiring and wiring accesories will i need? also any suggestions on how to do this?? thanks for any help

Sounds like a pretty simple system. Kewnwood is pretty run of the mill so what are the model numbers? I have no experience with audiobahn. What is the speaker impedance? Number of voice coils?

Here's what I would like to say: That sounds bomb!! You need to find out what the impedence of the speakers are though. It is very important. Also I am not sure if you have to buy another battery or if it is your alternator. If you listen to it with the car off, get a battery, but if most of the time listening is spent while the car is running, you need to upgrade the alternator. I would seriously suggest going to this site:

http://www.eatel.net/%7Eamptech/elecdisc/caraudio.htm

It has by far the best info I have found on the net. Hope that helps.

You don't need a new alternator for a measly 1200 maximum watts. A cap will be plenty, battery if the one you are using now is old or just plain pitiful. But if you are going to sit around listening to the stereo with the engine off I suggest getting a home stereo and staying at home. You do need the speaker impedance so that you can properly wire the subs. If they are dual 4 ohm subs then you may want to use one amp for the subs and one for the front speakers.

Here's your problem. You have four 4 ohm coils. You can wire each speaker parallel or series. So you will have either two 2 ohm, or two 8 ohm speakers. The amps are 300 X 1 at 4 ohms, 150 X 2 at 2 ohms, or 100 X 2 at 4 ohms continuous, RMS. So one amp bridged per sub will have to be wired 8 ohms, so 200 watts per speaker. Or you can use one amp for both speakers using the 2 ohm load per speaker, 150 X 2. The second option leaves an amp available for the front speakers and only drops the power to the subs by 100 watts total.

If you had two 4 ohm single voice coil subs you could use both amps and have 300 watts going to each, or a total of 600 watts.

He can, sort of. All he has to do is wire the speakers in a series/parallel configuration. This bitmap shows teh configuration but for four speakers. Just think of the speakers as the voice coils(well technically they are). Having one pair of voice coils in parallel gives the amp an 2 ohm load, then running a second pair in parallel gives the amp another 2 ohm load but since both pairs of coils are run in series it makes a 4 ohm set-up. So now you can have one amp for both the subs in the back and one for the front.

That is what I said.
