The project begins...07 system install!!!

The weather has finally started to break here in NE Ohio, so I started on my install. I don't have a lot of time, so I'm doing a little bit each day that I have a few hours to play.
I started with dynamat on the front doors. Approximate time was 2 hours per door. I put the stock speakers back in for the time being, so I can still use my radio. I don't want to install my Morel Dotech Ovation 6's until I get my amps installed. Once my amps are in, I can get the head unit and the front components in.

Then I did the trunk lid, spent about 1 1/2 hours on it.

I got my rear speakers installed (Arc FD 6025). I only installed dynamat around the speaker, I opted not to do the entire rear door.

I got my 12g speaker wire pulled through the rear doors to the trunk...just awaiting my amp installation.
Then I got sidetracked with a UPS shipment!

So...Today, I spent about 4.5 hours installing the Nismo intake, and pulling my power wire through the firewall to the trunk.

I'm getting there slowly, but surely. Over the weekend, I'm going to pull the rear shelf and yank the 6x9's and dynamat the deck. I'll leave the 6x9's out to vent my subs to the cabin. I'll be installing 2 Hertz EBX200R 8" sealed subs into the trunk to handle the bass. I don't need anything overpowering, just need some bass fill. Hopefully next week I'll have the time to install my Pioneer DEH-P980BT/CD-UB100/GEX-P10HD. I'll also be installing the Metra NIRD-01 interface to keep my info screen. I'll keep the pictures coming as I go.

Man thats looking good so far.It seems like you have a plan.Alot of people get in to projects like this with no direction and thing get all screwed up.The Dynamat makes such a huge difference. My 07 is the first car Ive used it on and Im amazed. The most noticeable spot for me is the rear deck.Man,it rattles like crazy.I Dynamatted the whole deck and the difference is amazing. The bass sounds so much tighter.I cant wait to do my trunk.

Have a blast with the rest(I loved doing mine) and cant wait to see more pics!!

AscendantMax,

Thanks for answering some of the questions I had!

Thanks for the props guys, I've been piecing this together for the last 6-7 months or so...it's nice to finally get the install going!

Nice job!

Why did you only do the black metal panel on the front doors? Why not the silver sheetmetal around it? Also, for the rear speakers - put a piece behind the speaker on the inside of the outer sheet metal as well - makes a big difference.

The black metal panel takes up the majority of the inner door skin. I figured a few thin strips to cover the silver wouldn't make any real difference. As far as the rear speakers go, I put the piece that I cut out for the speaker behind the speaker on the outer panel. Some day down the road, when my wallet recovers from what I've already spent, I'll probably pick up some more dynamat or damplifier (wouldn't mind trying it) and I'll do the rear doors, and the entire trunk.

Newbie to Maxima's, but not to cars! I sold my 92 Mustang GT (500rwhp/500rwtq) to buy my 07 Maxima. I did 90% of the work on my Mustang myself, owned it for 14 years. I learned very early on that you can afford to do a lot more when you're not paying somebody else to do it for you!

Coming along nicely.

Holy 8's in the rear deck - that's too easy for installs.

No 8's here, they were 6x9's.

You can definitely throw some 8s though or even 10s with minimal work Infinite baffle...

I got the Dotech Ovation 6's installed in both front doors today, and I got all of my wires pulled through to the trunk. All that's left is to get the amps installed, install the H/U and hook everything up...ALMOST THERE!!!

I only took pics of the driver's door, as I figured they're both identical.

put a strip of deadening around the baffle where it meets the door. basically seal it up as much as you can.

Not a matter of laziness...simply a matter of no time at all. If I could dedicate a couple of solid days, it would be done...I have other obligations that take precedence though !

I'm powering the Dotech's off of a bridged ARC KS300.4

I'm powering the Hertz subs off of another bridged ARC KS300.4

I'm powering the rear doors off of an ARC KS125.2 mini

They're actually not bad at all. Not a 'premium' set, but certainly not bad. They do need a 'forward' amp due the relaxed sound though. Although stay away from many of the Asian cheapies' they will be quite revealing. Crap in - crap out.

I haven't romped on it at all since I installed it, and I have to say that I was REALLY surprised at how quiet the Nismo intake is. I put a Fujita on my wife's Altima, and that thing really growls. I've found that I can hardly hear any difference at all with the Nismo while driving around town. If I get on it a little, I can detect a slight growl, but nowhere near as loud as the Fujita. I'm guessing that the longer piping must cause the Nismo to be quieter.

I spent an hour today and started wiring the H/U and accessories. I've got a whole slew of friggin wires hanging out of my dash right now. I need to wire the H/U, PAC SWI-PS adapter, Nird-01 adapter, Pioneer USB adapter, and Pioneer HD Radio unit. I've got wires going everywhere right now! Hopefully tomorrow after work I can finish it up.

We get our fair shair of rain and snow here in NE Ohio, that's why I went with the Nismo...it has the bypass valve in case you do drive into a lake ! When I priced the Fujita along with adding a bypass valve, it was cheaper for me to get the Nismo and call it a day!

Got everything wired and finished, and it is up and running!!!! The only thing I can't get working is the PAC SWI-PS. I can get it programmed, but it only turns the volume up, regardless if you're trying to turn it up or down. It also only seeks to the next station up, regardless if you're trying to seek up or down. Anyhow...here are the finished pics!

I currently have all of my gains set to MIN...this head unit volume goes to 60 and I can turn it to 55 and it is super loud and crystal clear. I'm almost afraid to touch the gains at this point in time!
