Need help programming PAC SWI-PS
I've got a PAC SWI-PS installed with my Pioneer DEH-P980BT and I can't get it programmed. This is in an 07 Maxima. I have the white wire tied to the two resistors which are in turn tied to their respective wires (as instructed in the instructions). I also grounded the appropriate wire in the factory harness. I program the unit to version 3, and start programming buttons. It seems to accept the programming, but when I try to use the steering wheel buttons the volume button will only increase the volume (whether I'm rocking the button up or down). Also the seek button will only go to the next highest station, or next highest CD track (regardless of whether I rock the swith higher or lower). The source button seems to work fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I called Crutchfield and the tech just told me to program it again. I spent about 1 1/2 hours programming it over and over, and it keeps doing the same thing. I'll call PAC Monday, but if anybody has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.

where exactly did you ground it? are you certain you used the correct resistors, did you meter them before attaching them?
If all else fails PAC tech support know the device inside and out. I was installing one in a Saab once, and the resistance values were ALLL wrong/different than what PAC thought they'd be. Over the phone the guy was able to have me read the resistance of the different steering buttons and tell me what other resistors to try to get it to work - and we succeeded.

There is no dip switch, I set the unit to version 3 for Pioneer. It is a chassis ground to bare metal. I think I have some kind of short in the thick black cable that plugs into the back of the head unit (from the PAC unit).

i have seen in the past that PAC has had pins out of the order they're suppose to be in from the factory, but only in a TR-7. Maybe try and find a picture of the harness on their site and make certain they're in the right order. Other than that, just wait for tomorrow

Im sorry I really cant be much help for you,but I can tell you that I used one of these with a Pioneer 700bt and it worked perfectly.I did take some time to get it right. You have to follow the instructions exactly. You have to do the steps in the exact order.
Dont forget there is a step that you must "skip".This really screwed me up,but when I realized what I was doing wrong it was a breeze.
