Advice needed?

I recently purchased a Pontiac G8 and the stock "premium" system is the most horrible stock system I've ever heard in my life.

I pulled all of my old audio equipment from my totaled 2k2 Maxima and it's been sitting in the original boxes for the last 3-4 years. I have the following:

JL Audio 250/1 amp
Diamond Audio 300/2 amp
Diamond Audio Hex components
Diamond Audio M361i Coax's
JL Audio 12w2 V2

I will be using my stock HU. Would it be better to purchase something like a JL Audio Cleansweep or Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.1 and use my existing amps or would it be better to purchase a new 4 channel amp and use the line level inputs for them?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I would go for the JL Audio Cleansweep, but I am sorta biased... I am all about JL audio.

Alright, I've decided to go with the cleansweep. I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg at this time on another amp. I'm considering either the MRP-F600 or stepping up to the PDX-4.100. Is the PDX worth the extra $200 with my aforementioned setup?

The PDX amps are very nice. The good thing about them is that is does the same power at both 2 and 4 ohms.If I had to choose it would be the PDX.

I Love PDXs, well ok, so I love removing them. Lately there has been a streak of used ones by me.

Cleansweep ... meh, not needed any simple summing device is just fine.

The Only Alpine amp that I honestly enjoy and love owning is the MRV-F900 ..

Unfortunately hard to find and a bit out of your price range Shawn.

This summer is going to be tough. $2800 for daycare, $3700 mortgage, two car payments, etc. This fall however, two of the three kids will be in school saving us $1600 a month. I'm feeling a new Corsa exhaust, Pedders suspension system, Vararam CAI, 93 Octane tune...... :-)

how do you like the car? always loved the looks of those.

A cleansweep will work fine, im sure you're not looking to break any SQ records.

Also, Id step in another direction than the PDX's, UNLESS your issue is space. You're really paying for their size.. they're clean, but they don't put out the power they should or could, in my experience.

I'm probably not the best person to ask about the g8.Mine was in the shop the 17 out of the first 33 days of ownership. They replaced the front strut bearing assemblies, driver side motor mount, exhaust and both front lower control arms. I traded in a 2k7 G35 sedan sport. The interior materials are decent but cheap. The car is fun as he'll to drive and handles great in stock form. Equal too or slightly better than my G35. With a Pedders track II system it can pull a 1.03-1.06 G! What I love best is the room.

thats crazy that the car is that new and you're already having issues with it, wow. But sounds like a fun car to drive nonetheless.

good amps. the only thing i hated about those V12 amps is that when or if your battery ever dies, need to reset all gains = gay

I think I heard that to but I guess I can live with that and would have to get used to the all digital read outs. But seems like a great buy and the 500w bridge 3&4channel have me sold

If the stock system is crappy and you are replacing the entire set-up minus the HU, one would think the HU is CRAPPY as well. I do not think the HU will do the set up any justice. I have used the cleansweep for 2 months, then took it out because if you have subs you can only turn the volume soo far, dont get me wrong it worked fine but wanted more out of my set up, but u might be better off changing the HU while adding the other stuff. Good luck

Current day OEM HUs are not all that bad. In fact many of them are left untouched with quite substantial upgrades elsewhere with no flaws to speak of.

In your case, the cleansweep was a waste due to either A: You did not have Bose, so it wasnt needed, B: You did have Bose which feeds a flat unamplified signal to begin with - so still unneeded. There is absolutely no reason for Nissan/Infiniti owners to need or use a Cleansweep.

I wish i knew that when i bought it, LOL. I was is a phase thinking i want stock and clean lines not looking tooo much altered, that quickly changed, i just did not get the sound i wanted out of it or rather not happy wiht the sound i wanted from the set up i had b/c i knew it could have done better. But hey it only cost $50 bucks brand new. So needless to say, 600 later and a D#3 with xm, bluetooth. I am happy for the time being, I had the non bose stereo set up. i actually changed everything out. Thanks for the schooling though

While the system sounds like complete crap, there is a good write up on one of the G8 boards with some very complex systems using the stock HU and it's actually not that bad. The problem with removing the HU in today's vehicles is all the controls are in the HU. I'm running into installation costs which are way too high. Suddenly a very inexpensive system has turned into a $2300+ nightmare. I may have to purchase everything and do some of the install myself unless there is someone in the NOVA area that wants some extra cash :-)

2 brand new MRV-F900

I have 2 brand new in the box MRV-F900 amps for sale. If interested call me. Michael 707-694-7248.
I have a custom car that I'm building but have run out of money. I purchased a $2500 system from a car audio store in sonoma county california. I left it there for a year then went back and talked about a refound. He couldn't do the cash so we worked out a deal. I will sell the amps for a great price.
