Is it really that hard to swap out factory deck?
Is it really that hard to swap out factory deck?
I read some of the older threads about swaping out the Bose deck and leaving the factory speakers. It seems no one really knows how doable this is. I've got a nice Apline CD player I'd like to put in, but leave the speakers for now.
The only thing I'm not sure about it what to put in the gap that will be there once the Bose deck is out. I don't really want an EQ in there, but just covering it with plastic would look stupid.

Go to the Nissan dealership and buy a radio pocket that would go underneath your Alpine stereo. There is a Bose inverter that plugs in your factory harness. There are many car audio websites that carry them. One would be www.crutchfield.com You would also need a Nissan harness adapter (about $15.00) and an antenna adapter (about $10.00)...good luck

Ive done this, but it seems a risky adventure.
Results appear to depend on the head unit and wattage.
Some times the system is too loud or volume is too touchy.
Mine seems fine...(old sony single cd player RMS:13-15Wx4 MAX:35Wx4)
The replacement is a snap i bought all parts (plastic pocket, wireing harness, Powercable for subs amp, ) for 80$(i think slightly high)
but the replacement was a sinch. just follow the dash removal instructions found using search. you will need about 1-3 hours
and a phillips head screw driver and patience. Oh and the wiring
interconnects of course to hook the wiring harness to the radio harness.

Over christmas im replacing bose with aftermarket speakers and MP3/CD head unit Any suggestions? ($300-$500 budget)
