Question about Eclipse AVN5510

So I'm getting closer and closer to having enough money to be able to get this head unit. I was doing some research on it and i read that there is no dvd audio. wtf is that? does this mean that if i play a dvd theres no audio from the dvd? then whats the purpose of being able to play dvds? (besides the nav dvd).

No, it means it does not play DVD Audio as in music DVDs. There are less than a handful of HUs that do DVD Audio.

As for getting closer and closer to getting, you are still aware that it is a 3yr old model correct ?

I have a 5510/52d and its a pretty nice unit.I realize its 3 years old as well, but I havent encountered any issues that would make me want to upgrade to a newer unit. The nav would really only be the place where age would be an issue. It hasnt gotten me lost yet.Im really glad I got it and the sound and options are very good for the money.I like it a 1000x better than the Avic 700bt it replaced.

One thing to keep in mind though. If you plan on using the Bluetooth you will need an extra wiring harness.Buy it from here:

http://www.quickconnectproducts.com/Find/find.php

The one for an 07 is like 130.00 if you had a stock Bose.

How much are you getting it for?
Crutchfield is selling the avn6620 with free bluetooth for 599 + free shipping. That is an excellent price.

Now THAT I will laugh at. I wasnt poking fun before for saving, my point was you saved for a 3yr old unit when the newer ones can be had for same or similar prices.

Now, you are taking all your saved up money to buy a 3 yr old unit that is not even authorized. Spend the extra 70 bucks or so and buy it from Crutchfield - you will have a warranty and more current unit.

ya i noticed that too. however it doesnt come with the bluetooth or the ipod adapters and thats a huge plus for me. I only use my ipod in my car but its currently set up like this. http://forums.maxima.org/audio-elect...tock-bose.html. not the cleanest install but still works like a champ.

The iPod adapter is minimal cost and the BT for these units sucks @ss. In fact I still have about a half a dozen in stock sitting on the shelf.

Did you see my other post?Keep in mind that with the Eclipse units you need another wiring harness for the bluetooth. The one for the Bose system is 130.00.I was talking to a guy at a local store that sells Eclipse. He was saying that if you dont have a Honda or a Toyota that the BT doesnt work that well.He said you dont really get any info on the screen.Dont know if thats true or not I didnt hook mine up.

What harness is this that someone is telling you $130 for ? Hopefully you did not pay this !!!

Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc .. it makes no difference it works the same way in ALL of the vehicles. Perhaps the dealer fell short on skills in a few installs ?

The info part is correct - there is none on the screen, no phone book, no caller ID, no nothing. However PAC does have an interface that will allow this.

Great. Now I know what I DON'T have to look forward to once I button up the install in a few days. LOL

Is there anything to look forward to with this Bluetooth unit? haha. Considering Crutchfield and others give it away with purchase of the 6620, I guess it can't be that great of a product.

Here you go...I was wrong though its not 130.00 its 150.00.I called up Parrot directly and this is the site they told me to get it from. The reason why its plug and play in Toyota and Honda is because Fujuitsu(sp.) makes the stock electronics for these vehicles.

http://www.quickconnectproducts.com/Find/find.php

This is for an 07 with a stock Bose.
