Weird Sub Problem

Ok i just hooked up my subs and im having a weird problem. Im running 212 1000watt Ultralinear subs with a pyramid 4 channel 1000watt amp.
There are a couple of things wrong and i was hoping to get some answers.
First off, when the bass is going in the song there is a constant low hum coming from the subs and slight popping/knocking. Also, when both speakers were hooked up on channels 1/2 it popped and you can only run one speaker because it pops. Lastly when i turn my head unit up to a certai volume the subs turn off and dont work.
Im not sure what these problems are from but my friend says its probably the amp. Im curious as to whether its the amp or bad wiring or something, any comments are appreciated.
Thanks

didnt you post here asking if anyone knew about these subs and amp? If i remember everyone pretty much said stay away. With all that said, sounds like the amp is bad, check the settings on the amp, the gains also make sure the subs are wired correctly as well (ohms and what not). I have no experience on this amp/sub combo so if any other member know these brand please hell the OP out. i would get your 200 buck back from your buddy. If i am incorrect and this is not the same person from the other post, my apologies

Pyramid ftl. If you double check your wiring and nothing is crimped or shorted out it's the amp. You probably ran the rca and the power wire on the same side of the car. You are better off googling your question because you most likely will get flame for posting you are using a Pyramid amp here.

sounds like you set the gains to max and let it rip.

What does running the power wire and the rca on the same side of the car do?

Here's what happens cheap RCA'a actually pick up noise from the power wire and the RCA's send them to your amp, amp sends them to your speakers. Thats why it's usually a rule of thumb to run them on opposite sides. The arguent can be made that if you use HIGH quality RCA's and run them on the same side as the power you will have no issues, however better safe than sorry as most everyone runs them separate just to avoid the stress. Good luck

+1, except I'd say that quite a few people on this board have them run on the same side. I have mine zip tied TO my power cable.

yep, i had mine on the same size for quite some time with no noise issues. it just made things a ton easier to run them the same side.

If it were me, disown your friend that sold you that junk. Ok really, take it all out and trash it, go and get good audio equipment then post up if you have problems. So lets say you get it to work, the danm distortion percentage got to be like 35% you will not be able to turn it past quiet anyway.

Your friend ripped you off thats the simple answer.
the Ultralinerar UL212s are flea market crap and that amp is worse.
You were warned by 5 people not to touch it but now you have a problem.

sorry you got jipped.
i have an amp and 2 kicker comps that are all hardly used rms ratings matched perfect check my for sale thread all in original packaging and working perfectly can have both 12" subs and amp for $120 plus shipping dump the ul subs mount these kickers in the box and have a nice sounding sub section. on the cheap
let me know within the next 24 hours so I can end my ebay sale.
make me a reaosnable offer for the whole system and I'll help you out.
Next time if you ask for advice and you hear a resounding "dont do it" dont do it OK.

PM me and we can work something out for you.

Not sure there is a "right way" with the gear you have. the 1000 watt pyramid amps Ive seen so far are between 35-65wx4 rms. see the 1000 w they quote is 1000w max power for a milisecond if lightening strikes on a thursday in November at 1230 within 6 inches from the positive terminal while you have an iasca spl disc playing wide open. There is a reason you cant find anything about this set up anywhere on the net. Go talk to your friend and get your money back. If you dont want to work something out with me at least dont let him get away with jacking you for 200 bucks.

For the humming check your connections/grounds and the amp turning off at a certain volume is probably the amp going into protection so it doesnt blow itself up!!!
