Help !! Rear Deck Removal

I have a 98 gxe. I am replacing rear deck speakers. I have back seat and back out of car. How do you get the rear deck off??? This is truly mind boggling that an engineer would design this speaker mount like this. Guess they didn't want people taking them out. I see 3 orange press holders. Is that all you have to free to take deck off?? What about the rear ducts under the window?? I'm doing this tonight and tommorrow. My wife thinks I'm crazy. I've only had the car for 8 days and I'm rippin it apart.

I remember it beig pretty easy but chopped mine to pieces. So I can't look at it and tell you how many push pins there are. But mine has at least five 8mm screws holding it in place. Yours should have zero of these.

You have to carefully pry off the plastic trim covering the rear window pillars, pull the 3rd brake light back toward you and lift up, disconnect the electrical for the brake light, then start prying the fasteners up that hold the rear deck down to the back seat frame. Use a panel tool, or some other wide, flat thing, like a stiff putty knife. Otherwise, you'll get an ugly crease in your rear deck, or rip out a hole that a fastener goes into.

I finished it about an hour ago. I'd still like to talk to the design engineer who made me take all that stuff out just to get at speakers. There is no 3rd light on my rear deck (its on the spoiler). It was remove rear seat (pull rings), remove rear back (4 screws on bottom, 2 in armrest), pry up rear deck to get at speakers (there were 5 push grommets at the seat edge, 2 interior push grommets, and it was glued in a couple of places). I lifted it up enough to get the speakers out (for those of you interested, those speakers (non bose) are paper with paper cones probably cost them $3 to make if that (what pieces of crap). Drilled new mount holes and mounted my 6 x 9's. I won't have to take the rear deck off again to do speakers. Now on to the head unit and amp/crossover wiring. I think I'm gonna pay someone to do those. Just trying to get the 6 x 9's in; my kids were swarming over me. I can't take that when I'm trying to work.
