Need Recommendation for High-End Front Speakers
Alright, well, it's fast approaching time to upgrade the system in the new whip, and I was wondering what you guys could recommend for those whom listen to music that consists of fast, tight bass (Death Metal & Techno). I find myself drawn to Rainbow's Vanadium Cross Line, as they claim to be geared towards such genres...what do you think?

heh haven't you post in the audio room for awhile :P
i listen to A LOT of techno/trance (currently have one of armin van buuren's mixes in the cd player right now)...and my DLS iridiums sounds pretty dang good. the tweet is not harsh, and the midbass is very fast and punchy.
i'm sure someone is bound to recommend dynaudio gear as well... *cough* don *cough*

Alright well as someone who has done multiple systems in multiple cars I can recommend this:
Subwoofers-
JL Audio has some of the best subwoofers. I had 4 12s and had zero issues.
I would recommend a ported box if you want louder and a sealed box for a tighter flatter sound.
Amps-
I have used alpine, crunch, power acoustik, mtx
I recommend alpine or mtx. Try to find one with a fan or good warranty because I've had 3 power acoustik amps go bad from over heating
Speakers-
I like Polk audio. I think they have the best quality, price and sound.

Yeah, no need for any upgrades...until now.
How much did the set run you? You running 3-way?
A-OK with that, just want to make sure the equipment suits the need. I have to talk to him about picking up a Rainbow SRI soon, anyway

You're new to the forums, but you'll soon find that the .org hosts some of the best-versed audiophiles I have seen on any forum to date, kind of a 'diamond in the rough' forum we have here.
I do appreciate the recommendation, though.

yeah running 8" midbass in the doors, 3" domes in the kicks, and 1" tweets in custom a-pillars. I love how it sounds!
i got them off from this dude on ca.com for 575 shipped. he didn't want to modify his doors to fit the large midbass so he sold it to me pretty cheap since no one was biting his offer.

Do you have a picture of where you located your 3" speakers? I have a set of JL 3 ways but am not sure about cutting up my door. The tweeters are easy with the sail panel or whatever you call it, factory tweeter is already there. There is a nice flat spot close to the vents on the door where the fake suede is but I'd hate to cut into it. Would need a grill to cover the speaker. Thanks.
you can just mount the tweeter onto the stock sail panels if there's enough room. i had to get some custom a-pillars molded for my tweeters because of the fairly big mounting depth.
if you got any more questions feel free to PM me...i don't want to get the OP's thread too far off topic.

Why wouldnt you keep the tweeter with the MID and the Low end? Doesnt make sense to have the tweeter in the A pillar if the mids are coming from the kick panel.
I would suggest the New Series of the DYNS i think they sound awesome for the money. I have a older set and They do fairly well for my musical tastes!

the 8" midbass are in the doors.
it's not required to have the tweeter right next to the midrange. the dome mids have an excellent off axis response, so even when placed down in the kicks, imaging is still pretty high. the tweeter in the pillars also help raised the stage up to ear level.

Don is the man if your going new. If your budget is a bit lighter than that go to DIY mobile audio website look at the classified section for the same gear. Most bought from Don in the past and you can find quality used gear there as well. I personally bought from Don and will go nowhere else again, the suport and service are second to none and he makes sure you know what your getting and will steer you into the right direction based upon your budget and needs.

Last time I checked replying to topics is not spamming. I did not post any links and only photos of my personal car and a relay diagram that I am not selling. I guess new users should not post at all because that would be against ethics? Don’t assume that because I am new to this forum that I am a newb in a forum.
This reason is why I hate even touching new forums. Instead of letting people in to ask questions are give opinions; elders seem to always get their feathers all ruffled up over nothing.
