8w7 enclosure build

Sup ORG, heres a couple pics of my box build its still raw, no carpet yet.

The enclosure is 30x14x15, 2cft tuned to 34htz, birchwood, double baffled, countersunk, 45 corners, rounded ports, and resin coated inside.

The builder name is Mike, Mike.AmiCreations@gmail.com

Here the full build, at least 80% build of it.. he ran out of my carpet color.
http://www.mwcaraudio.net/forum/showthread.php?t=889

This is the orginal draft I came up with, that I sent to Mike

This is what he sends me back 2days later.

The creation coming to life.

Ive taken so much from the ORG, here's the opportunity to give something back. Mike is nothing short of a craftsman, his attention to detal and work is TOP NOTCH.

Why have a box builder build a box, when you can have craftsman build you an enclosure!

Looks good. I may have to have you hook me up with his shop after he gets done with your box.

One question, though. How much does that thing weigh?

He used Birchwood ($25 upgrade option) 1/2 the weight of MDF & about twice as strong.

Im looking at about 30lbs for the box (according to Mike), MDF would have been about 50lbs

$200 with all the upgrades shipped!

If you go on mwcaraudio.net under vendors, there are several way more detailed enclosures, pricing, and scheduled builds.

we all know your substage enclosure can make or break

Ok well my enclosure was completed today!

I must say Im alill bummed out that the beautiful woodwork has been covered up. Maybe ill get a bug up my azz one day and strip her down!

I made a slight change yesterday, the carpet was suppose to be all gray but I emailed Mike and asked if I could change the insert to black. His response "will do!" Thats whats up!

I wanted the subs to look like they were hanging or suspended (yea I may be ghay)

Also, Mike added the fiberglass resin coating to the inside (you can see by the other pics the inside walls are much darker now). The resin will make the inside walls smooth like glass, this helps to increase SPL and lower box resonance. To be 100% HONEST, hell if I know if its really gonna make a difference I had a few extra $$ in the paypal and said F it, go for it!

End result, Id say worth every penny!!

I must say it looks alot bigger then 30x15x14, pics are deciving!

We did the hi's & xover install yesterday and he didnt want to cut the door b/c the tweets wouldnt fit the stock Bose location, we took the tweets out of their housing and installed them in the Bose location. Dude just went the extra mile with the whole install b/c he could have very easlier said "F it" they dont fit and started hackin up the door!

those subs are just soooooooo freakin tight right now, on certain songs you can kinda get a sense of how hard & low it'll drop, I cant wait till they loosen up a bit!

Im gonna see JT in about 3 weeks so we can re-tune and the BIG3.

PPI D3000/1 on the 8's @1.5ohm appox 1200(w)ish. They sound sick but being new there tight like a virgin and tryin my DAMNEST to break them in nice and slow.

PPI A12000/4 (110x4) on Crossfire X6 comps (tweets are alill bright) up front & Alpine (SPR-17C) 6.5 coax rear. I know rears are frowned upon but I just couldnt leave them empty

Im gonna need a ALOT more deadening!!

My rear deck is making the bass sound like azz! Ive already deadened the top of the deck addressing the Bose but it looks like I need the bottom of the deck done too. The passenger side rear pillar sounds like someone is back there with pot and wooden spoon.

Cant wait till the weather breaks, deadening in 30 degree weather is a biiatch!

I went with the 8w7 becuse there no one really does 8' subs and I wanted to be different and its and sq & sql sub.

Ill tell you one thing they BEAT like a *****, their LOUD and CLEAN and the JL 8w7 is "argubly the best 8 on the market." Not many companies are making kick azz 8's. I hear DD has a new 8' sub coming out thats suppose to be a monsta as well, but I went with the proven product.

If I was to do a 10's or 12's I would have maybe gone with IA, Sundown, DD or RE because JL is expensive and you can get more bang for ya buck with those brands and sound just as good.

Ive had a few people listen to the car before they knew what I had and they have been very impressed but they 8's. They didnt think 8's could get that low or loud.

I could have gone any way I wanted on my sub stage b/c of what the 8's ran me and possibly blown the trunk off my max if I wanted too, but it was just something about those lill subs that stuck with me and I had to have them!

I would recommend 8w7's to anyone but NOT at full price ($750 pair), I got both of mine for $500 (its nice to know lill people in high places) $500 YES, $7fiddy hell naw!

And its nice to sound better and just as loud as guys with two 10's or 12's.
