Looking for a nice component set for my 5th gen

does anyone have some good recommendations. also keep in mind i would like to just use my stock tweeter hole without cutting out a new one..thats one of my biggest concerns because i still want it all to look stock and clean.

i'm on the thought of infinity, but i dont know how what size their tweeter is...or the size of the factory tweeter

there is so much better out there than Infinity for your money. I would grab up some Rainbow SLC comps if you could find them, Don may have a pair, I'd PM him (Pearl96Max).. At their price point (around 200), there aren't too many other sets that can match how great they sound.

what are you planning on amplifying them with?? also, whats your budget?

I do, the SLC is their lowest set, basically (tells you how great of a company Rainbow is)

If you're not planning on amping the components, I wouldnt suggest components. They'll sound worse than regular coaxials if not amplified.

I wanted the clean stock look as well, my installer suggested we take the tweeter out of their stock housing and they installed with NO PROBLEM in the Bose location..

Go on caraudio.com there for sale section is full of deals..

Buyers beware, local pick up recommended. Slow to ship out items already paid for.

i have focal speakers. i had infinity reference and i liked them but after hearing the focals in the front and the infinitys in the rear of the car, I would never go back to the reference. The focals can be pricey tho.

i like hearing about teh tweeters being able to go in the stock location. that comforts me. i guess ill have to find a nice 4 channel amp...i think my brother has a alpine v12 sitting in his attic i may take advantage of

IF i go the method of regular coaxial speakers...who would give teh best mid/high sound? im use to pioneer..havent heard much else besides them.

I've always really liked the warm sound of Boston Acoustics speakers, coax and components. They are all over the internet.. If you can deal without warranty

use the V12 def if it works!

I'm looking to upgrade my speakers finally as well. I currently have a Kenwood headunit, and need to replace the front speakers. I do not plan on amping.

So would you recommend I just disconnect the existing tweeters, and just install door speakers if I'm not amping? I've only installed head units before, so any advice here would be helpful.

yeah you can just install coaxials if you're not planning to power them with an external amp.

yeah I'd disconnect the stock tweets if you're going to put in coax's. It may throw off your imaging if you leave them connected..

I just put the RF Prime 6-3/4" components in my Maxima, tweets in the stock tweeter location in the doors. These speakers are amazing, $70 for the set and they sound better than speakers that cost well over double the price. I was skeptical at first, but Crutchfield and Sonicelectronic have very good reviews. You can't beat that deal!
