New subs + sealed box ?

New subs + sealed box ?
I just got a pair of Memphis PR 15's they are in a sealed box, There 1.6 cu , i dont know if this is correct or not, Can you guys help me out with this and tell me if it needs a different box and if it should be sealed or ported.

Too small.
If each is in their own enclosure, minimum is 2 cu ft, optimum is 2.5, (gross volume, including driver displacement, sealed).
If paired, 3.5 and 4.0, sealed.
Vented sizes will fill your trunk and then some.

port them at 32hz in a nice big box...like 6cuft should ****ing slam hard. for subs like those don't go sealed. waste of output.
Also you should be feeding them more then the spec'd 250. 300-350 is fine but I wouldn't go any higher.
they are good cheap budget subs.

That comes with some drawbacks of its own.

I think it's given that one can assume that because of the large requirements of the sealed box that they would do well/better ported.
For instance you can buy a mb quart 15(discus maybe?) that only needs .7 sealed. They don't do that much 'better' in ported boxes from what I read on some audio forums while I was researching it. I forget the model however I built one for my friend because he demanded two 15s but wanted as much space as possible. a 1.5 sealed box after displacement for two 15s is silly small. I think it's some of the best output i'v ever experienced for so small a box.
yes 6ft cubed is a good sized box but if you do it right you can still get to your spare and fit golf clubs and such.

Hell if your up too it. Go lower to 30hz. IF you want that low deep bass and if that sub can handle it. but yeah a 6cuft don't seem bad. but rather huge for a trunk. lol. So his best bet is prob trying to get away with 4.5. or 4.0 cu.ft imo.
Also what coils are on the sub?

Box tuning depends on what the OP is aiming for...
high tuned boxes will be loud, but peaky. low tuned boxes will suffer a tiny bit of output, but the low end extension will be a bit more pronounced. getting the proper airspace to vent two 15's will be challenging. you might have to build the box in the trunk to make it fit.

ok so you are telling me that a sub that needs a very small sealed volume will do good in a large ported box? please give examples
also you are saying that a sub lets say a DD15 will do good in a small sealed box?

I think your "given" has no logic.
You call 2 cu ft for a 15" driver a large requirement? Cripes my home audio 15's required 4 cu ft each!
What would you consider a regular requirement for a 15" driver?
Any idea what the total Q is of the driver in question?

most ca 15 sealed are less than 2ft cubed. home audio is different and 90% of home audio boxes are ported.
and maybe instead of anyone saying i'm wrong you can prove it with examples. prove my 'given' wrong.
