Ideas for custom amp rack???

I'm putting my system in next week and not completely set on how I want to mount the amps and crossovers.

I've got two kicker amps, two pair of kicker QS components, and two L5's.

I'm thinking I want to mount the subs facing the trunk and mounting the amps and crossovers on a board facing the car behind the seats. All the wires will be hidden.

I've looked around the net for ideas and haven't really come up with anything. Just wondering what kind of input you guys might have?

I don't want to go too far and fiberglass. I'm just looking for something clean.

Don't have pictures of mine, but an easy way is to cut a board that fits behind the rear seat. Remove the black trim and save or discard. Mark holes where hex bolts attach the plate behind the rear seat. Buy longer bolts with nuts and secure the rear sheet metal, plate and wood rack in a sandwich. Carpet or paint the board as you choose. You can then screw or bolt amplifiers to the wood piece. It's not a lot of space to work with so be sure to lay everything out.

Hope that makes sense.

This is how I have my 4-channel amp mounted. I still have to make a piece to cover the wires, but it does the trick right now.

That's how I've done it in the past and I wanna keep em off the seats. Plus I have 4 big crossovers for the components that I wanna flush mount with the amps.

Here are some ideas. This one was to be bolted over that sub baffle, IB setup or on rear deck

Similar rack bolted behind a box...

Lots of space along the back wall and behind trunk carpeting to stash even the largest of crossovers...

Just for width purposes (unfinished pic, just a prelim layout-pictured 2 12's in 1.2cu ft each), you can fit some of the largest amps side by side on the tail end...

WOW! Thanks for all the ideas so far. I think I've got an idea of what I'm gonna do.

I'll post pics next week!

Another idea if it's not too late...

Why not build a false floor to mount your amps to? It hides & protects your equipment and only takes up a minimal amount of trunk space if you do it right - most of the time, you won't even notice the space it takes up...

Here's a couple of photos of what I built for my '00 GXE - not that elaborate & it only took me a full day to cut the MDF, test fit it & put it together... I just used the trunk carpet as a template to cut the MDF so it would fit in the trunk...

I have more information about it on my cardomain page if you want to take a look at it. The only thing I would change would be to use wood vs. MDF because the MDF wound up breaking on me after about 4 years of use and had I kept this car, I would have had to rebuilld the false floor anyway. It was my first crack at building something like this, so I can't complain too much about how it turned out and how it performed overall. My amps never overheated, I could still get to my spare tire in an emergency and I still had plenty of room in my trunk to haul stuff in...

Hope this helps & good luck with your install!
