I installed a Viper 771XV in my max about 5 years ago. The system has been working great until about two weeks ago when the unit that reads the frequency off my valet key in the dash (551vw??) decided to start working randomly. Some mornings I will come out and the car is running and warm. Other mornings it just cranks and cranks and won't start until I put the key in the ignition (just in, not turned at all) and then remote start it. This tells me its something with the bypass module. No?

This has been an OK unit, however, the remotes are very cheaply made and fall apart after one or two drops and then must be wrapped in clear tape to hold them together. The remotes also eat batteries alive.

That being said I am looking at buying a new remote start to replace this Viper. I would like a 2-way system remote start only (having one alarm on top of the other has been a huge pain) with a screen on the remote showing me whats up with the car. It would also be nice if the remotes were durable and not chintzy like this one has been.

I realize Viper is part of DEI and DEI makes a whole buncha brands. Has the quality of the remote start systems improved in the past 5 years? Anyone recommend a good brand to go with for my new RS system? Thanks!!

Automate and avital are good pieces especially if you want to add on a alarm

I have the Clifford 590.2x installed and love the entire thing, plus the remote is rechargable. My system was installed by pearl96max aka Don.

He did a great job and i would be going back to him for anything i need

So anyone have a recommendation for a good alarm/remote start with good range and isn't $300+. Also any of these come with the bypass module?
I need recommendations for a 4th gen I'm looking to pick up.
