Infiniti I35 Aftermarket Speaker help needed

Hi,

I am about to replace my head unit and speakers in my 2002 I35, but need help with speaker sizes.. I've always heard the I35 and Maxima have the same exact system, but there are a lot less speakers that "fit" my car according to Crutchfield.com.

I'm either going with the Rainbow GD or Infiniti Kappa 60.9 in the front. (not sure if either fit.. Crutchfield says it doesn't for the I35, but does for the Max )

I'd prefer to go with a coax in the rear for ease of install, but if not, I'll get the Kappa 50.9

Does anyone know what sizes will fit? (I already have 3/4" mdf rings if needed)

Thanks in advance

why not just pop the door panels off and have a look/measure?

that would definitely work for determining speaker size, but front/rear mounting depth is a lot harder to measure

nah it's not that hard, just pop the speaker out, and measure how deep it'll go before hitting the glass/internal door structures. plus you'll have a speaker ring to bring the speaker out a bit, increasing overall depth that you can play with.

i ran multiple set of rainbows in the past, and didn't have any issues with depth clearance. i think you'll be ok.

Update: So I took the door panel off, and I35's have 5.25" in the rear. But 6.5" will fit if you remove the white Bose speaker mount.

I have an 04 I35 and they're 6.5 all around (Bose).

There's stock mounting depth.. and then there's mounting depth when you add a mdf ring which makes it a lot deeper. I was easily able to mount the 6.5" Rainbows using a MDF ring.
