unit
My head unit is a sony XAV-60 unit.
The camera I am getting is from eBay, has a yellow RCA (which I need) and the camera also needs power. I will tap the reverse light in the trunk for that

It's hard to help you with a wiring diagram for your car without the year.
Also, by hooking up the camera's power to the reverse light, you won't be able to view the camera's image while driving forward. This works, but for the most functionality, hook up the camera to switched power so that you can choose to view it anytime you want, as well as automatically when in reverse.

The majority of vehicles I install them in are SUV's, which tow things, and drivers often want to look at the hitch/wiring/etc while driving to make sure everything is still solid.
Therefore, shop standards where I work are as described.
It takes you zero extra work - you will already be running the video wire to the head unit, where switched power resides, so it is literally no extra work to run the power wire along with it.
That being said, your reverse wire is green/white in the driver kick.

Makes sense and sounds good now. No concerns with extra work.
So what do you exactly mean by switched power? Have a switch to Press and then the video displays?
Do you have a wiring diagram for it?
Thanks

Google got me this for drivers kick panel.

It will be in a harness that runs to the rear of the car.

Do you think there would be any problem in tapping my reverse camera into the amp turn on that goes into the factory Bose amp? I already have an rca going to the headunit because previous owner left it there and wondering if i can avoid tearing my car apart.
Since your In the trunk already just tap the reverse lights. It's simple I'm actully doing it right now. I think it's better this way because the camera will only turn on when you reverse. That's the only time the reverse lights turn on
I would rather the camera just turn on with the car other than needing to be in reverse. Splicing a monitor to the 12v plug and the camera from the amp turn on was what i had in mind. I would rather not make a mess out of all the wiring in my car and would rather not spend hundreds of dollars for a decent double din headunit.
FOUND IT OUT!
Alright everyone who needs help now/future!!!
I figured everything out with the help of everyone on the forum!
2003 Nissan Maxima Reverse Wire.
Location: Driver Side Kick pannel. The panel is located under the hood release pull. Driver Side left foot.
Wire: GREEN/WHITE. Green Wire with a White stripe down it.
Easiest way to find this wire is cut open the tubing/electrical tape which conceals all wires. If you open the tube that runs parallel to the floor, it is easiest. (this is the part after the bend toward you).
Tap this wire for the 12V+ reverse wire.
For the camera:

I purchased this. I DO NOT know how it is yet but will post in the next few days.
Purchase a camera with Night Vision. You will need to power this camera.
I think the best way to power this is by tapping the reverse light wire from the tail light.
I have tested everything. As of right now my head unit does switch into reverse mode.
I am getting power to the wires for the camera. Seems good and I am waiting for the camera to come in.
Will try n post pictures of the camera install in the back.
Hopefully it looks nice and is not to noticeable.
Hope the camera functions at night and is clear!!

Wouldn't be to much of a wiring mess because you would tap the tail light reverse wires. You would tap it under the trunk covers so it would look clean.
Either way the amp on should work. (didn't realize it would have a separate turn on) Make sure you use the 12v+ constant, and then ground the other wire somewhere.
Just a side note. I believe if you turn off your sound system the camera would also then power off.
Just a thought.
Not to positive about that turn off situation but I believe that is how it will work.
Yea it makes sense. I did not realize you would have a separate monitor.

I was unsure if taking power from the amp turn on would make the amp not want to turn on but thats no longer a concern for me.
If you mean im trying to use my camera with RCAs intended to go to an amp, dont worry, its a seperate yellow RCA that looks completely different than the 4 RCAs going into my trunk. Im pretty sure the only difference between a yellow cable and red/white ones are the color so its easier to keep track of. using a white one for video or a yellow for audio makes no difference.

Just trying to help you out. Usually people send the wires back for other amp signals.
Didnt know that a video would have been run too.
An Rca is an Rca they are color coded for convenience.
Video doesn't carry 'another' signal, but there are absolutely video-specific rca cables that will provide better signal than a generic audio cable. Depending on the length of the audio cable that you are sending video through, the quality of the camera, and the quality of the screen, you might be okay using an audio cable. But, a video cable should be 75 ohm; the shorter the distance of an impedance mismatch, the less likely your image will suffer.
Not that it won't work for you, but I have seen people come into my store with the mindset that we're charging extra for unnecessary cables. This isn't the case. The percentage of people unhappy with the result from using a cheap audio cable isn't worth it for us, because installers and shops get a bad reputation in the blink of an eye these days, and if we aren't putting out quality work, nothing separates us from a backyard hack.
Granted, there are a whole lot of shops out there that are hacks as well, but as I've said before, the problem with the internet is that every retard can post up their opinion. I get the people all the time at our store in this situation - they read something on the internet that MUST be true. Not necessarily the audio/video cable situation, but same scenario with varying things they read. This forum has always been geared towards higher end equipment, so I hate to see the misconceptions breed here - next time you're in a reputable shop and someone says something that you read otherwise on the internet, take a step back and look at things from the other side, because maybe [shudder]the internet was wrong[/shudder].
This was NOT geared towards any specific person in this thread or even forum.

!
So I just installed the camera and I must say....
IT IS AWESOME!
Everything works well as I wrote it up.
Functions Flawlessly
You can barley see the camera when the lid is down.
Had to do some adjusting for the camera to fit, It did not just drop it.
Nonetheless I highly recommend buying this!
Takes a while from china but so worth it.
^^ Look up for the thread, detailed Reverse camera Installation^^
Here are some images!

Please let me know what you guys think!
IF ANYONE NEEDS ANY ASSISTANCE INSTALLING THE CAMERA PM ME!
I will be glad to help as best as I can!
