aux in the armrest

anyone ever install aux on a car that goes through the armrest? what would it take to do this on a 4th gen max? i'm assuming it's just a matter of routing a cable from the rear of the head unit through to the armrest, drilling a hole, and cleaning up/doing finishing touches. if i go through with this i will be buying an aftermarket head unit so what should i be looking for in that?

Thats all there is to it

As for the HU, look for something with the appropriate rear jack, whether you are looking for an Ipod jack or USB

Thats pretty much it. I have done that in my 5.5 gen. I ran the USB and iPod cable to the center console.

what's a good length of cable to have?

did you use a rubber lip or some other stopper around the hole in the armrest to keep it clean/keep the cable in place? if so what did you use? i have no idea what these are called

and if you altered the lip of the armrest so that it could close with the aux cable left out what did you do?

The iPod cable for my alpine deck was long enough, and I used a 6' USB Extension cable. I just ran everything under the center console, and made a hole in the center center floor console to pass through, and all wires are just sitting in the arm rest.
