Radio - no display w/ lights on

Hello,

The stock BOSE radio does NOT display anything when the head lights are on. I noticed it couple months ago when it would occur sometimes and now its all the time when ever the lights are on. Could it have to do something with the wiring or is the unit itself is done?

thx

Does it illuminate when your headlights/parking lights are off?

Silly question - but did you check your dimmer?

Do the HVAC controls still illuminate properly? If so, it sounds like a bad connection inside the radio. It's not handling the illumination trigger properly. First time I've heard of this happening - but then again nothing surprises me any more with the factory Bose radios.

Two solutions:
1. (cheap & dirty) - remove the illumination wire from the harness, radio will be bright all the time.
2. (proper & opportunistic) - see it as yet another reason to replace your head unit with aftermarket. It will make the rest of your system sound better, you'll get aux inputs, better functionality, etc etc.
