aftermarket head unit with bose, bypass?

in the thread about "how to use ur bose speakers and aftermarket head unit" it says you have to buy the $56 adapter so you won't blow the pre-amped bose system...

is there a way to just bypass the preamps like, cut a wire or something somewhere on the 4 speakers so its like aftermarket speakers without a preamp?

i'd really rather have the most plug-and play solution, this is my 4th week driving the maxima without any sounds and its driving me nuts. silent cars are ****ty cars. i ripped my alpine head unit out of my 240 so i'm wondering the easiest way to throw that one in.

I have been down your road. I have done researches, asked questions but after all said and done it comes down to buying the adapter. Only other way is to run speaker wires. Currently am using Bose speakers on JVC deck, and memphis amp/Type R 12" sub. Sounds good but yes I can be better.

This is what you need for your 95 Maxima:http://www.autosoundcentral.com/PIE_.../hrcniss95.htm

and this for your deck:http://www.autosoundcentral.com/Metr...t_p/997417.htm

I believe that adapter is for non bose setup. You will need the Pac adapter which I have listed to work with your bose.

I had a kenwood head unit in my 96 maxima for many years. Never did anything special to bypass the bose preamp and never had any problems from the speakers. I think it's just a precaution but it never caused any problems for me by not doing it!

Aftermarket HU -> Bose system.

The entire thread boils down to this:
You need to use either a Line output converter or the metra 70-7551, depending on the preout voltage of the RCA outs on your aftermarket HU.

this one works but the sound is really low (well at least it was for me) so i just purchased an adapter for a non bose system and it works perfect. just make sure u connect all of your remote wires in order to get the speakers to play

I agree, I just installed a pioneer with 4 volt outs using the metra 7551 and the volume is way too low for me too. Interesting that you recommend the non-bose 7550

If it's too low, then use a line output converter. The 70-7551 will remain in use.
