Just ordered a new system for my 2K1

Ordered an Eclipse ECOM head CD tuner, Boston Acoustic Pro 6.5 seps up front and Boston Rallye 6.5 coaxs in the rear doors. An Orion XTR 500.4 amp driving them. Need suggestions on a solid 12" sub for a small sealed enclosure....Thanks in advance.

A little like my 2K1 setup....

Hey SRB,

I am running a similar setup as you. Although, I am running things off of my factory head unit for the time being. I have a pair of Rally 6.5's (RX67's) in the rear doors, waiting on a pair of Rally separates (RC620's) in the front, and running them off of an Alpine MRV-F407 amp (40 x 4). As for the bass end, I am running a custom made fiberglass box over the rear passenger wheel well holding 1 JL Audio 10W3. It's not a 12 like you're looking for, but with only about 120 watts from a 6 yr old Punch 75 amp (I know,,,,I know) going to it, it hits, and hits hard. I can't wait until I can upgrade to a JL Audio 250/1 amp....hehe Twice the power??? Man, that will be awesome... So the setup you're getting sounds pretty good to me... D-MAN

How much are you looking to spend on the sub? The Boston Pro 12 runs in a 1cf box. It sounds great. Nice and tight.

Sweet DMAN, I have a 10 year old Punch 30, an 8 year old Punch 75 and a 4 year old Punch 100 in my other car, a 95 Ford Escort (I know!) pushing the Rally RC620s in custom kick panel pods and 1 JL 12W6 bridged into 3 ohm mono on the Punch 100. Those old Rockford amps are the ****! I'll be retiring the 30 and 75 soon and moving the 100 into the Max to push either the JL 12W3 or Boston Pro 12. Since I'm used to the Rally seps., I decided to upgrade to the pro series components up front in the Max for the best possible front end. I'm trying to dream up some way to put an 8" or 6.5" sub up front somewhere without costing me a fortune. We'll see though....I'll probably go back and add it later when I figure out the right sub and location.

Here's an Idea I had......

SRB,

This is actually something I have thought about myself. Putting something like a 6.5" sub to catch those tough midrange bass notes. One thing I looked at was doing something in the kick panels. I drive an automatic, might be tight for a standard. I think you would have enough room to do a 6.5", with most of the box space going up under the dash area. It might be pretty tight for an 8" though, but shucks some people put a 6.5", 4", AND a 1" tweeter there....hehe I mean hey, you have custom pods in your escort right?? How much space in them, any rom to go bigger on them in the Max??

Well, let me know what you decide, and how it turns out....D-MAN

I personally like the JL W3, but depending on what you are looking for I like the Image Dynamics subs. I don't know how other's feel about them since I haven't seen anything posted about them in a year, but they are made for small box applications. They are really a SQ sub and I liked the 2 tens I had. Nice sound. I went the JL's just to have something different this time, but I could almost be persuaded to go back to the IDQ's.

If you are looking for SPL ... my 2 cents would be spent in the Kicker L7's square solo's. Nice!
