Clean out every square inch of your trunk and clean it. Yes clean it. Sound deadening material works best when the surface is clean. Smoke whatever you want. I had to smoke in order to put the Dynamat in my trunk due to my herniated disc in my back

There is a press board cover over the metal rear deck. The press board is held in place with plastic push pins. Remove the board as described above, clean the deck, clean the deck two more times, and cover with your damping material. You can also adhere a thin layer of carpet padding to the underside of the press board.

Don't buy dynamat extreme. Raam mat is the same exact thing and can be bought for a dollar per foot. Email Raam@raamaudio.com Guy's name is Rick McCallum. He should hook you up for $55 + shipping per roll. You can visit my website for pictures of rear deck sound deadening. I have like 5 layers on there

holy cow this is an old thread!

but yes you have to take off the c-pillars to take off the rear deck. they're just all clips spread along the deck so just pop them out carefully...just be patient about it

what year maxima? careful when trying to take out the rear c-pillars if you have a 6th gen. i'm not sure how it's like on other gens, but on the 6th gen...there are high pressure canisters for the side curtain airbags. so don't simply stab something back there and pry around randomly.
