so..idk how to search for this on the search, its so specific, but i need to know how to install a pioneer avh-1400dvd stereo, with metra 70-7551 harness and scosche slc4 converter...i want to do it myself because i rather avoid the $120 install fee from best buy =\.

 

I just did this in my '00 I30. Red from the deck harness goes to red on the 7551...same goes for the yellow. Black from the deck harness goes to the black as well as the black w/ white stripe on the 7551. These three wires must then be grounded to the body. I used one of the bolts that hold down some kind control box right in that area. The blue remote wire from the deck harness goes to both the blue and blue w/ white wires n the 7551. I didn't hook up any dimmer wires. The speaker wires go into the the slc4 input area. Turn down all the gain levels before powering up anything. The switch in the slc4 will need to be set to line out and then plug in the RCA into the output RCA on the slc4. The gain controls u will use is are the line out ones and not the factory amp adjustments. I did not need to use the ground wire on the slc4. From there set ur deck volume to 3/4 and adjust the gain levels on the slc4 accordingly.

Are you going to put amps in there? If so, use a seperate amp for mids and highs vs Subs.
