Help: installed first HU but . . . (i already searched)

Hey guys/girls . . .

okay well i just installed my first head unit, a Pioneer DEH-P3300 (any comments/experiences with it?) and i also purchased a wiring harness and a antenna adapter so i could do the install, i did what they said and matched up the colours together and plugged the antenna adapter in

everything works fine but my power antenna does not go up anymore when the radio is on so therefore i get pretty much no radio stations

I have a 1991 Maxima GXE, that came without the bose system, can anyone help me out ?

thanks in advance,
Alex

Ensure that you have the antenna wire connected, if I recall, it's the blue, or maybe orange wire. Ensure that you have a good ground as well, and it should only come up when your tuner is on. If this doesn't help, tap +12v on the antenna lead and see if it goes up. This should help you troubleshoot.

Hey, thanks for the reply,

well now that i remember there was two wires on the wiring harness i bought that didn't match up to any of the wires on my deck a solid blue one and either a orange w/white strip or solid orange

all of the wires that came out of the headunit are matched up to something so where would i connect them too if i have to in fact connect them to something

as for the ground i am using the wiring harness so i didn't make any new ground, i would assume i would be using the same ground that the stock deck used (where ever that is)

i doubled checked all the connections that i made and maked sure that everything was plugged in but the damn power antenna wont go up

and yes the antenna did work perfectly before i put this new deck in,

thanks again,
Alex

There will be a blue wire, either solid or with a white strip coming out of the HU. There will also be a blue wire on the adapter harness. Tjhis is your power antena lead. MAtch the two up and you'll be good to go. The orange is for either illumination or the dimmer. Hope this helps.
