Advice Needed to Upgrade Bose Speakers & Amp
Advice Needed to Upgrade Bose Speakers & Amp
I am looking to upgrade the speakers in my 03 Maxima. I want great quality, but nothing outrageous (the best i have heard stock is the VW sound system). I currently have the Bose system in there (Speakers, Sub & Amp) with a pioneer double din HU. I wanted to upgrade the speakers & add an amp that can power the new speakers & a sub. I did not want to put a sub in the trunk if i could some how use the existing Bose sub. I do have a 12" RF sub in a box that i currently have hooked up to my home theater system (Sub was given to me by a friend) that i could use if using the Bose sub is not possible.
I was going to go Alpine for speakers & Amp:
Alpine SPR-60c Speakers 8-110 Watt
Alpine PDX-M6 Amplifier- 600 watts
Can i use a 5 channel amp to power the 4 speakers & sub or would i need 2 amps, one for the 4 speakers & 1 for the sub?
If i am going to use 4X 110 watt speakers & 250 watt sub, i'm figuring i need atleast a 700 watt amp? Or a 5 channel amp that puts out 110 watts for 4 channels & 250 watts for the 5th channel? (Alpine has one with these specs)
Are there any other parts i will need? (Besides wire, speakers, amp & sub)
Those are just a few questions i have to get started. Once i get a handle on things i'm sure i can figure out the rest.

WAY too many good brands out there, people are just going to tell you their preference. You should just go to as many audio shops as you can and listen to speakers with music you are familiar with and decide that way.
Sorry i wasn't too clear in my post. I cleaned it up a little to be more straight forward. I am mainly concerned with the wattage of the amp to power the 4 speakers & sub. I was going to go with a 5 channel amp that puts out 110 watts per 4 channels and 500 for the 5th channel. Is this sufficient power?
I was talking to someone who installs stereo's & i came to my final conclusion:
Going with Alpine SPR-60c component speakers for the doors
Alpine PDX-V9 5 channel amplifier - 4 channels for the component speakers & a dedicated channel for the sub
I'm just on the fence on how powerful of a sub i want. I'm not going to use the RF sub i have as it is starting to deteriorate. I'm trying to decide on either the 500 watt sub or the 1000 watt sub. I don't want anything to crazy & will get the attention of the cops! Anyone have any input? I was told that since the channel for the amp is 500 watt & if i get a 1000 watt sub it wont be too crazy. can anyone verify this?
I have all the wiring down, and where i will be mounting everything.
