no sound from aftermarket stereo

I have a 96 with the Bose system. The previous owner had an aftermarket stereo in it and it was working when I looked at the car then his girlfriend wanted the stereo for her car when we traded. No big deal. Well I finally got a stereo from a contest at work, brand new in box. I had it hooked up and it turned on fine, but the antennae wouldn't extend, I tuned to T-100, our local country station and anyone that lives near Newark Ohio knows that you can have a wooden antennae and still pick it up ha ha. I get no sound at all, no humming, static, or buzzing out of any speaker. Is there any way to test the speakers? The right rear is missing the Bose amp, and the paper is torn so I know it will need replaced. Also there is a small plug in connector with 4 gray wires that i have no Idea what it's for, I've looked at all kinds of wiring diagrams and none of them show what it goes to. Any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Sounds like you need to connect the antenna wire and the amp turn on wire. Typically Blue (antenna) and Blue/White (amp) if there are two of them. Otherwise one wire - Blue does both.
