Fiberglass

I'm planning on building a custom fiberglass enclosure. Does anyone know what type of fiberglass and resin I should use and where to go about getting it. Also, any suggestions for this first time project would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can get fiberglass supplies at Walmart. What are you gonna make with it? A sub enclosure for the spare tire well?

No I'm going to make an L shaped frame out of wood and have it flow into three speaker rings for three tens that'll make up the front of the enclosure. I still haven't figured out how to mold the bottom of the enclosure to the contours of the back of the trunk, without removing the carpeting, where I would like it to sit. Any suggesttions? Thanks-- I didn't even think of Walmart.

You can get cheap polyester resin, Bondo, at Wal*Mart, or you can get better stuff at - www.fiberlay.com or - www.fibreglast.com

Most people consider polyester to be adequate. I am not in that group. More weight can be saved and the enclosure will hold together much better with Epoxy. As far as making the box fit around a carpeted area, mask everything at least two times. I have had good success with regular masking tape. The resin won't stick well to the wax surface of the tape. To further keep the resin from making contact with your carpet you can use a soft wax to put another layer on the masking. Check the above links for more information, and then email me if you still have questions.
