Sealed box for 2 subs
Sealed box for 2 subs information needed.
Hey. I'm trying to learn a few things about car audio. Should a sealed box for 2 subwoofers have a divider between separating the subs? Basically should it be 2 seperate boxes or just one big one. Just looking for the answer and why. Thanks in advance.

I didn't get any replies so maybe my thread wasn't clear. If I have a sub box that is sealed and made for 2 subwoofers. Should there be a center divider between the two? So instead of both subs being in the same airspace, they would have there own but smaller.
Using a sealed box it doesn't matter. If you were using a ported box(slot/L port/etc) then you would want the center divider to "chamber" the box. It's more important that the box is the right size for both subs, than if a box has a center divider.
There are a couple benefits to the divider. It adds a lot of rigidity to the box. Also, if one sub dies, breaks, explodes, then it will not affect the other sub at all.
The only downside is more weight and slightly less internal volume.

Having 2 chambers in the box actually eliminates turbulence that can occur in the box. Having been an avid enthusiast for many years it is recommended but not a necessity. The speaker would perform more efficiently, however at low power levels you probably wouldn't notice it. As stated earlier with a ported box it is recommended as well.
