A learning experience for a cheap ***
I took the half assessed, no, make that quarter assessed route for a bose sub replacement. I bought an 8 inch kicked comp d free air 2 ohm with dual voice coils and reused the old 100 watt Bose sub amp off the Bose sub. Wired it up for 1 ohm. Big regret. The stock Bose sub was better. Don't repeat my mistake. The kicker sub is rated at 50 watts minimum. If I'm feeding 100 watts how can it sound worse? Less punch and all. I have a head unit but still run the speakers off of the Bose amp and metra rca adaptor.
Question
Could I somehow splice the signal out cable from the wire harness in head unit to the bose amp with rca jacks to run the Bose sub amp as a dedicated sub? I don't see how 100 watts isn't enough just to power a tiny sub for a little punch.
Also
If I do splice this signal wire into Rcas can I just cut the wires at the Bose speaker amp for each speaker, bypassing the amp and wiring them into the head unit? To reuse the Bose wiring. I would most likely sell all the old Bose stuff for a proper 5 channel amp later on. Its just to cold to rip up the interior for wire runs and my system sounds like ****.
Thanks all.

I justed used a LOC off the rear door speakers and ran my amp off that but I do not have the BOSE system.
I have never been a fan of free air subs myself..so any opinions I would have on that would be tainted.

Stupid me, I forgot that the RMS rating is more important for the amp than the Peak. Although the Bose amp I am using is 100W PEAK, its more like 20-40 RMS. That is below the range of my sub. My fault, not the sub or the free air setup.
