4th gen Bose system/back speakers blown/replacement?
So I'm a noob here and I'm sure this has been answered elsehwere however I can't find it. I have a '99 Maxima with stock Bose audio system. The back speakers are blown. I bought these, but I'm at a standstill now. Completely took out the back seat and rear deck(which was a pain), got the speakers out. However, 4 wires were connected to the speaker. The Alpine speakers I bought only have two terminals. How do i make this work? We cut the wires off the connectors to the old speakers and then stripped them (which I think was now a bad idea). Tried to find a combo that would work to wire up the new speakers. But every time we tried, the speakers made a hissing and clicking noise and even started to smell bad (like burning metal). What can be done outside of seeing an audio professional?

Purchase used bose or upgrade your headunit and wiring.
Each bose has an amp built into the 1ohm speaker and the OEM unit is basically just sending sound signal/no power.
After markets won't work right due to this on a bose.

You remove the amplifier housing from the Bose speakers and because it has the two terminal wires that your looking for. But heres the thing I tried all aftermarket speakers and they sound really horrible absolutely no bass at all. The aftermarket speakers have a really small magnet and woofer cone compared to the Bose which won't produce any bass. The only speakers that will produce the sound that the Bose speakers are going to be component speakers which are about close to 200 dollars a pair. I would just buy Bose again. After you in stall them you will see the difference between front and back speakers.

No you can still use your aftermarket speakers if u want. All you have to do is unscrew the plastic housing from the bose speaker and the two terminal wires that your looking for will plug and play with speakers and you don't have to cut any wires or buy any accessories. If you look at the Bose speakers that you took apart from your car it has the same two terminal wires.

Yes you can do that, but will it sound the same? Nope. Say bye bye to any bass.

thanks for all of the help. Got the Alpine's installed. Just had to splice and match existing wiring from the amps. Doesn't help that Bose uses like 8 different color wires. Anyways, they sound ok but obviously missing some bass. I think the issue is that these new speakers are 4 ohms impedance. Is the Bose 2 ohms or 1 ohm? I am going to buy new speakers to match the Bose headunit resistance.
