bose question

bose question

bose question...got a 91 se and i went to circuit city and they said that you cant install aftermarket head unit on stock bose speakers...that i would need to buy new ones to install a head unit...is this true or they just tryin to get me to buy their speakers too?

I'm not absolutely certain...but I can tell you this..

I have a '93 Max SE w/ Bose..and I got an aftermarket HU (Kenwood) and used them w/ the original Bose speakers...(er...did, actually) I used that setup for about 3 years..and just last week, I installed a new pair of Alpine 6x9s on the rear..and even though you're not supposed to..I went ahead and used the existing Bose amps back there.
They sound fine to me..but eventually I'm gonna be replacing my HU again and then I'll get rid of the rear amps.
