what should i do?

Ok guys, imma about to drop alot of money on my system. I have mb quart components int he front and 2 10"s and phoenix gold xs2500 sub amp. What i need to decide on is an 4 channel amp...

1. pcx-440 or pcx 480...is more wattage typically better?
2. jl audio 300/4
3. pg xs4300--just so that it matches my sub amp, but i dont like its crossover options at all

and rear fill?..i did alot of research and for imaging i dont need it, but sitting in the back with stock speakers it sounds like ****. Too much bass...
-I've decided to either get 5.25 midrange/midbass drivers
-or 5.25 coaxes
-either will be mbquart just so that it will match my fronts better?

oh yeah, Im getting my trunk done with plexi glass and all that nice stuff! What do you think i should get?

Since you have pg now stick with pg. As for rear fill forget about it. But if you insist get a 4" with no tweet.

What strays me away from the pg xs amp is that the crossover sucks, i mean it would take forever to adjust the crossover settings by making rnet?... whats wrong with 5 1/4" midrange?- it shouldnt have any tweets correct?

Then get an active x over get the 3 way. Typically speaking if you insist apon having a rear fill and you want good imaging it works best if you use a small driver but not to the point of the tweet. Yes- there should be no tweet in the rear.

You should keep the stock rear speakers and add caps to them to high-pass them at about 200Hz. It should sound better with no midbass from the rear of the vehicle. And I'd power them with the HU.

How bout if i get an aftermarket midrange? Not too much bass or treble to pull the soundstage back. It would sound better than the stock speaker correct? ...another thing: your saying i shouldnt amp the rear speakers even if i got a decent midrange? Couldn't i just use the fader on my headunit?

to max'n out: ur sn seemed kind of familiar from other posts.
anyways, im trying to go for more sq and rather upgrade little by little then all at once. Im kind of strapped on cash but im willing to spend a little bit more on the amp, if i know it is a good amp and will last me. Im looking for clarity, will the pg xs series amps do me justice powering my components?

You will need such a tiny amount of rear fill (I have too much equipment for the little bit of rear fill I ended up using) that aftermarket speakers won't make a noticable difference compared to stock, unless you really want to spend the money. And using an amp to power them would be a waste. The 12-15 watts from the HU is plenty.

Yes an aftermarket mid in the back will sound better than stock. But like you said you want a nice stage upfront so you don't want much back in the back. Just run head unit power to the rear. And amp will make the rear amplitude to much and pull the stage back. Could you use the fader to adjust it...yes...but it's just simpler and will save money to not get an amp and use a small speaker.

I fully understand building on a budget even if somtimes i don't act like it. The xs amps are good and will last. I say go for it especially if you already have another one. It will give a good sound. Go for it. If it makes you feel better I knew a guy that won a world championship using xs amps.
