Hello, I recently bought a used 98 Maxima that came with a Stero with only a tape deck. I am wondering if anybody knows if it is possible to attach a CD changer to this stero without buying a whole new stero.

That's what I did on my 96 GXE. I bought a Nissan in-dsah 6-CD changer with fits the car (of cause). It comes with cables with the right connectors that just plug into the existing connectors.
As for aftermarket changer I don't know, and I don't like non-factory stuff in general.

 

you can get a cd changer that is controlled over FM signals

 

damn...u have 6 in dash cd...mine only came with a 3disc in dash changer...how does it fit?...oh yea...i have a 98 though

 

since it's a Nissan product, the unit's height and width just fit, as wel as four mounting screws. I saw the unit depth is a little greater than the original radio, no problem because there is lots of room behind. I think 3-CD changer has a cartridge? This 6-CD changer does not. It just load 6 CDs one after another, into the same slot, and the LCD tells you to "wait" or to "load"...
