just wondering if anyone does it or suggest it? I have a 2 channel and want to power my mids with them. I know that I cant use the fade anymore but is it still a good setup?

What do you mean just power your mids? What's your current overall setup, and how were you planning on adding the amp? In any case, I'd suggest you probably shouldn't do it. But it's hard to evaluate without knowing the big picture.

currently I have a stock non bose with blaupunkt 6 1/2 inside and I want to power all 4 with a 2 channel amp. I want to know whats the benefits of using a 4 ch vs. 2 ch. thanks

What you are talking about is running the amp down to 2 ohm stereo. If your amp can handle that, then fine. Remember that if the amp is a good one, you can do all kinds of different wiring patterns and achieve different loads on the amp. Bottom line, the simplest way to wire the 4 spkrs is going show the amp a 2 ohm stereo load. Most amps can handle that now a days. You won't have very much control over them, as you said.

Its quite common. You take one channel to the left passive x over and run the mid and tweet then you take the right channel to the right passive x over and run the right mid and tweet.

As long as the amp isn't a Pyramid...

The main disadvantage is the loss of fader control as you mentioned...

Another disadvantage is amps generally gain a little distortion running at 2 Ohms stereo as opposed to 4 Ohm stereo. Not likely something you will notice though...
