Viper550 beep after arming beep?

when i 'arm' my alarm it sometimes beeps once (which i think it's supposed to do)but sometimes it beeps once and then 1.5-2.5 seconds later it beeps again (like it's saying i don't wanna be armed or something)--does anyone know what that second beep that sometimes happens when i 'arm' it is? the book doesn't have anything on it and just the fact that it's inconsistent has me curious and annoyed
thanks,
matt

The alarm is either sensing an open door or your dome light is on. Check them...

all doors are closed, dome light off, trunk is closed, windows up, and it still does it--it's really annoying cause i don't know what's going on and i'm sure the neighbors are wondering why the hell i keep playing with my car (nothing they haven't seen before though) is there anything else i should check

Take it back where you had it installed...

Has that been happening ever since you got the alarm.? You have courtesy lights right? My 3rd gen has courtesy lights where after you close the door the interior lights will stay on for a few seconds.

If you do and this has been happening ever since you installed it, maybe the people that installed it didn't do it correctly.

Cars with courtesy lights require diodes attached to the sensor wires for the doors. Not sure the reason behind it, I just know that it works when I install alarms.

yeah it has courtesy lights but i've tried it with the light completly off and it still has the second beep, but the fact that it doesn't do it all the time is what is confusing

I don't believe it matters for OUR cars if the interior lights are turned on or off. The courtesy light system will be active either way (the light bulb just won't turn on)

My best bet is that they did not diode out the door sensor wire. This is from experience in working at a car audio place and learning by mistake -=P

It should not do that. The light switch should be in the middle where it comes on only when you open the doors. If it beeps three times it's been set off. But once when locked and then again later, shoun't do that.
