Hookup Portable MP3 Player to Headunit?
#1
I want an mp3 player, but only it it can be hooked into my existing headunit, which is a Kenwood KDC-515S. I would like to somehow hook a wire into the back of the headunit that can be plugged into the headphone/line-out jack of the mp3 player and run it through the pocket below the radio. I looked in the radio's manual, but found nothing. Can this be easily done?

Do you have any AUX input port on the Kenwood unit?

No, the unit does not have an AUX. I whish I would have through of that when I bought it.
Ryan, where did you get your Sony double-din unit? It is really nice looking. It is exactly what I wanted, but after searching for a long time I settled for the Kenwood. Let me know, just might be tempted to go get myself one...

If you don't mind the loss in sound quality, you can get an FM modulator to plug into your MP3 player and then just tune your radio to the right frequency. But if you're mainly buying the player to have in the car, there are some MP3 headunits out there that are worth looking into.

Thanks for the info. I think that I will just do without for now.
Also, Ryan, how much was that Sony headunit and can you still buy it? I like the simple look and it is more flush with the dash --- that is the main reason I bought the Kenwood that I have in there now. I hate when the radio sticks out. Let me know...
