1996 GXE stereo question
I have a stock 1996 GXE stereo in my maxima and the cd player is dying. It isn't playing CDRs worth a crap anymore and it sometimes skips on regular audio CDS at the slightest bump. I want to just replace the stock cd player. Courtesy has it for $199. Does anyone know of a cheaper price. Also, they have a in dash 6 disk going for $299. Can this be gotten cheaper and does anyone know how good it is? I know that aftermarket would probably end up being better but I really don't want to spend major bucks for aftermarket. I did this with my wife's car and first it was the cd player, then the changer, then new speakers...and so on and so on...

They both worked great. But to be honest....One was from my friends 99 Altima (the double din) he had it in there until last week and never had a problem. The other is from my 96 Max I only used it for a week before it was replaced. All I listen to is burnt CDs (hardly any radio) and didnt have any probs. Like I said though I only used it in there a week.

The double din should plug right in. My buddy that works at the infiniti parts counter tells me they both fit almost everything! The best thing to do is call your local Nissan dealer. But the plugs on the back of both radios, and cars, are Exactly the same! I am 99.9% sure they would both work for you,but I would feel safer if you called Nissan.I put both of their model #s in the listing.

That's the same one I got from grubbsauto.com like 10 months ago, brand new for $119 shipped to my door. I don't have comparison with other CD changers but it just works fine. I think I played a few CDR's with no problem. One time a CDR does have a loud burst noise. I verified on my home audio system and found it's no the Nissan CD changer but the CDR itself has that noise.

It's just a plain jane CD/radio. It matches the black interior I already have. I still have that extra pocket just below the deck. It was on closeout and I got it for $119. I bought 2 units, one for my mom's Camry, both were very easy to install.
