Sound Deadening Poll

i know this has been asked 100x, but i want an updated version... what is the best Sound Deadening mat for a trunk with Hardcore bass? (talking like at least 750+++++ watts from subs alone)

for those of you posting with testimonials.... please post the following details

1. Type of Sound Deadening used
2. Is it peel&stick or heat-required mat
3. Does it stick and contour well?
4. approximate Db being pushed by your subs .... and/or ...
approximate wattage being fed to your subs
5. How many layers did you have to use to get the desired effect?
6. And finally, what is your overall opinion of the mat?
(Excellent, Good, Poor, Very Poor)

Yes i know what you're thinking, and i already know im a pain in the a$$, thanks for your input guys (for those not computer friendly to make it easier to reply, just cut/paste the 1-6 questions)

I used Dynamat Pro in my previous car. It was peel and stick, but I heated it with a heat gun and molded it to every contour which I guess answers the next question. It was time consuming to heat the mat, but I wanted a better install than just peel and stick. I went with 3 layers on the lid and behind the lights and 2 on the sides. I was pushing about 300 watts per sub (2 12" Orion DVCs pushed by an Orion 250 HCCA (which I'm trying to sell by the way)). My overall rating on the Dynamat is basically this: They are the major player in sound damping, they been around for a long time, they may not be the cheapest or easiest to install (correctly), but I feel they are the best. That's why I used them. Just my 2 cents...

I've got 2 10" infinity kappa perfect subs being fed a total of 918 watts RMS... who knows how many watts peak. Plus another 300-400 or so watts RMS going to my accoustic speakers. My truck's entire interior is absolutely covered w/ /Dynamat Xtreme. As nice of a system as I have, the #1 comment I get from absolutely everyone that hears it is "how do you get your bass to hit so hard, yet nothing rattles?". The truck is 100% rattle-free.

Buy it from www.thezeb.com ... you can get it for around 140 bucks shipped for 36 square feet which will be way more than enough to cover your truck and then some.

this may not be an answer you were looking for, but it may help. what i used for sound deadening was expanding foam. its a duct seal used by a utility company. i went through 2 case of it, thats 30 cans. i filled the ENITRE trunk lid and quarter panels. i just finisned making a new trunk floor out of 3/4" plywood. i did it in 2 peices. i drilled numerous holes in it, and injected the foam into the cavities. my trunk is completely solid at this piont. if you knock on the trunk lid and quarters it sounds like your hitting a peice of wood now. it was extremely inexpensive easy and should be very effective. i still need to put my box back in to see how big the difference is. (4 10" xmax's). mabye this can give ya a few ideas. even if you go with the dynamat, id still do the foam if i were you. it cant hurt and cost about nothing comapered to the dynamat.

1. raammat
2. peel & stick 4ever
3. yes, use cheap roller if you want.
4. DEI 1100D @ 1ohm, or approx 1050w
5. I dunno. Still in process. I'm a slacker.
6. It owns Dynamat Extreme overall. Similar/same performance, much cheaper. I still have a dynamat extreme kit in my living room.

Expanding foam

I also put that expanding foam stuff in my A pillars and especially my B pillars (the B pillars hold a LOT... they're pretty big on silverados). I honestly couldn't tell a damn bit of difference before and after... and yes I did check because I did both the drivers side A&B pillar and when I finished I compared it to the passenger side which hadn't been touched yet and I couldn't really tell a noticable difference.
