sony amp problem

i bought a sony xplod 760 watt max 2 ch. amp about a month ago. i got it to power 2 rockford 12's. but i tried to hook up the amp, and i could not get any power to it. i checked the ground wire and the power wire, and they were both working. the rca's were hooked up right, and i hooked up the remote wire to the antenna wire. but i still cant get power to the amp. i blew the amp fuse early during my attempt to install it, but i replaced that. so its not that. my power antenna does not work. the motor does not run, so maybe the fuse is blown. but would this have any effect on the remote wire, thus not letting the amp get power?

oh yeah, i heard that the small wire between the rca's is not necessary to hook it up. is that true?

Put a voltmeter on the "antenna wire" and see what it's doing.

The "small wire between the RCA's" is usually used as the remote wire.

As a test, you might try just jumpering the amp's turn on to the battery power and see if it turns on that way. Don't leave it hooked up that way, of course.

Yeah check your remote to make sure it's hot when you have your radio on, I guess you don't have a power light on the amp, do you have another set of RCAs you could try? What about another place that has a working amp and you could just switch them out to see if it is the amp or not. Also might might to hook up a different speaker to it to make sure that's not your problem. If all that works you might want to take the back off of the amp and make sure nothing looks melted or smells burnt.

easiest and fastest way...grab a DIGITAL Multi-meter/volt meter..set it to DC voltage...and probe your Power wire..before the fuse...after the fuse..and at the amplifer (check the amplifer fuse too)..it should be at about 12 v...Your remote wire should be at 12V with the stereo on. If you dont get 12v at the power wire..its something with that..but if your antenna isnt going up...you might wanna check all your fuses under the dash..mighta blew that..or blew a stereo fuse..i think....man..after 9 hours of installing..the brain gets kinda fuzzy
