OT: Building a PC

While building a PC from scratch (meaning putting together everything by your self including motherboard and CPU) what order do you load the software?? I think the order below would be the correct one:

OS
Motherboard Drivers including drivers for integrated stuff
Video Card Driver
Modem Driver
Directx

The reason I ask is because I have done this in this manner and directx 8.1 is turning out to be a big pain.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

It doesn't really matter what order, tho I choose to do directX last as well, via windowsupdate .. i also dont load motherboard drivers because usually MS's are better.

If you have an ATI card.. heh i'd understand video problems. historically ATI drivers have sucked since my first experience with them on VLB. puke.

What are your computer specs?
Usually all at the same time. Never had a problem with my computers.
As for mobo drivers it depends on the OS and mobo chipset. If it's a VIA chipset and using win XP you don't have to use the via 4in1 drivers. In other OS's you must use the 4in1's.
Also if you have XP or win2k(i think) you don't need dx 8.1.
