What is the difference between 0 and 180 degrees phase?

an sound is a wave travelling through air.. when the speaker produces this sound, it's done by pushing the air back and forth at whatever frequency it's trying to reproduce.

when you invert the phase by 180 degrees, it simply runs "backwards". when the speaker first starts moving, it will go in first, then out...

reason for this being there? sometimes the distance from your mids to your ears and the subs to your ears is a weird multiple of wavelengths.. (or fractions of a wavelength on really low frequencies).... soooo, that can cause muddy bass in a car system. listen to the music closely (kickdrum while other stuff is playing works best, IMO).. but listen closely from the driver's seat and have someone flip the switch for you if you can't reach it yourself. If it sounds better, then leave it there. if it sounds worse, flip the switch back.

there's no better or worse way to have it.. it's just a way to help tune the system.

Matt Hi!!!
That's Mike. Nice post. Even I was interested to read!
I've got my rainbows, after a while they sound unbeleivable, no metal sound like MB quarts, pretty dynamic, I like them. Now I'm working on Midbasses.
Just connected my sub, by the way FOR JAY JOHNSON, I've got my phase on the IDMAX reversed, it plays a lot shorter and faster, that's what I need!!!
