?'s - Just picked up a pair of ECLIPSE coaxles

ok, I just bought a pair of new Eclipse 6.5 coaxles for $50 at the local dealer here. The thing is that there is no more warantee because the dealer no longer deals Eclipse products anymore thats why he gave me that price. does Eclipse has a good reputation for their speakers? I want to know because I dont have a warantee so I want to know how reliable are they. thanks

I just bought two sets

They are for my friend's integra, but my sister has an eclipse head unit in her Accord. They have an extremely good reputation as far as their head units, changers, and other electrical equipment. I know a lot of people that boast about how great their 6X9's are. Apparently the sensitivity of the speakers are very high 96 or so and they sound great without an amp...though they sound excellent with an amp.

Everybody has their own oppinions how the speakers sound. But you can be sure that they are maid from really nice materials. If you like how they sound - just leave them (they sound pleasant).

After Eclipses I personaly couldn't listen to MB Quart anymore. Too harsh

I don't think MB Quart has a good formula for my ear. The tweeters are just too much for me. When I sit in my friend's car, I aim the tweeter a little lower towards my chest, cuz it's just too harsh for my ears. I'm really happy with my Infinity's though.

Lanzar?? *shudders*

Eclipse is good with the speakers, but the subs are WAY over priced, as are the amps. But heck, the HUs are overpriced too. How many options do you actually use on one of those things anyway? Not many.

Eclipse is not overpriced. I use all of there options. Give me a brand out there that will send you a new one if someone steals it out of your car within the first year.

1. You use the Commander? Its nice for GPS and stuff, but other than that, who wants to pay a large sum of money so you can say commands. The LAN data link system? Maybe I'm just poor and couldn't think of evening affording (or even having the reasons to buy) stuff for those options.

2. How many people actually buy from the shops so they CAN use that warranty.

3. I don't know about the 2001 line, but I heard a LOT of people saying their HU died on the from Eclipse. This is the same problem with Nakamichi. But with Nak, you buy the cd-45z, which is comparable to almost Eclipse deck, and almost cheaper than any eclipse deck, and at least you didn't go out and spend a lot of money on something that broke on you. Jeez, you almost have to go to the top HU to even get something better than a 2.7 volt output on the RCA outs (CD5442). There's only 2 models above that... great.

Eclipse is a name, and even though the sound is spectacular coming out of these things, you have to sell your soul to satan to afford one with the same options as other HUs. Hey, if someone goes out and get's Eclipse, they're going to get great sound. Personally, I would buy another brand with the same options cheaper, and put that money toward a better amp, sub, or speakers. Just my 2 cents.
