Want to get rid of rattle..suggestions

I really want to get rid of my trunk rattling or tone it down alittle bit. The guy at the stereo shop said dynamat wouldn't help? Is this true? What should I do? I hate that stupid sound. SUGGESTIONS??

There are a lot of things in the stock trunk that can rattle. I don't know what they are because mine does not. So be more specific and we may be able to help. Exactly what is it that is rattling?

I've just finished my trunk couple of month ago.
Your back panel of the trunk rattles and that's why the key mechanism does. I've covered inside of my trunk cover with 2 layers of Raam matt wihch is A LOT cheaper and significantly better then dynamat extreme.

If you put the raam matt, it'll be a lot quiter, but you stil have a chnce of a little noice from the metal parts of the mechanism. I would put hot silicone all over it, which usually helps everyone who did it!

let me know

What I did was stuff the area around inside the lock mechanism with rags and polyfill to dampen the vibration a bit. It helped alot for me but I dont know about you since you have about 10x more bass than me

you won't completely be able to get rid of all the rattles, but i like nismo's suggestion of stuffing rags and polyfill in the spaces. you can use old shirts as stuffing also.

i'm going to rebuild my rear deck with mdf, cause i'm getting some serious annoying rattle from there, the trunk lid isn't too bad on my car.

My trunk lid is stuffed with open cell foam, mattress padding from wal mart. That way it doesn't get tangled in the lock mechanism.

does that stuff help with dampening?? do you have to really stuff it in to get it to work, or just put a layer down??

I stuffed it in tight enough that it won't move without manual persuasion. Many people with the rattling wing have put a gasket between the wing and trunk lid. The same for the license plate. I am sure my wing rattles but I can't hear it over the stereo. So I am not too concerned about it right now.

my wing doesn't rattle at all, all i'm worried about is deadening the car, so that hardly anything is audible outside the car. and i'm trying to do this the cheapest way possible.

With the prices Mikesburn has offered on Ramm mat version two I would order one or two rolls. Two rolls would be enough to cover every piece of metal in the car at least once. For doors cover the outer door panel - on the inside, and the inner door panel to seal all the holes. Cover the floor and firewall area, including transmission hump, at least once. Under rear seat and between rear seat and trunk, rear deck and roof. Then cover the trunk area and put another layer under the rear deck. You can fill cavities with foam, polyfill or expanding polyurethane foam. Be carefull with the expanding foam or you'll have it where you don't want it.
